This choice: Phone didn't shrink with her • Go Back...Chapter #4Phone didn't shrink with her by: Inverse Lauren looked at her right hand, only to find it empty. She was scared she might have dropped her phone in one of the bottomless chasms, until she looked up and had one of her worries replaced with another.
What stood before her was a large black structure that stretched onwards both above and to both sides of her. She had to take a step back, mouth a-gazed, while also being careful of the fibre she was currently on, falling backward as she took it in. It turns out she had dropped her phone when she had shrunk, so it didn't shrink down with her, so remained at its original height, which was now taller and wider than any building Lauren could ever perceive.
Starting to tremble, having a physical object to compare herself to and realize just how insignificant she's become, she slowly picked herself and walked towards the phone. She had no idea what she was gonna do, or what she could do, but felt that being close to it was her safest bet.
That was when, at her size, she noticed indents on the side of the phone that she could've never seen at her regular size. Some appeared to be the standard indents through which the phone was constructed, while others seemed to be minor chips from the phone being dropped, which to her size were now full caverns.
Realizing each of these indents gave enough room, there was a chance she could at the very least get to a safe vantage point. Going full in on her impulses, she jumped as high as she could, which she found was slightly higher than she was used to, probably thanks to her new size, and became to scale the monstrous beast that was her phone.
She found that the best strategy was to throw all caution to the wind and just keep climbing. She bore no thought to "looking down", or even really resting, she gave into her animalistic instincts and continued forward, pushing herself up with her hands and feet. "I'm basically just becoming a bug at this point" she mused to herself, wondering if to anybody watching if it looked like a baby ant was climbing the phone.
After at least several minutes, Lauren finally made it to the top, rolling herself onto the glass screen, finally allowing herself to rest for another several minutes. Finally getting up, she was once again amazed at the scope of the device she casually used everyday. Spending what might have been half an hour walking on it, she came across more bumps and scratches that she never noticed before, dust piles that exceeded her size building up, and even noticed some spots where her finger prints remain. Standing in the middle of one of them, she sighed to herself in exhaustion, "I'm small enough to fit in my finger print. This really is hopeless."
As she depressingly moved on forward, she came across what she soon realized was the unlock button. It was here that she had a brief epiphany. What if she managed to get the phone to work and is able to send a message to someone for help? This started to pump her adrenaline alot more. She knew deep down that it was probably gonna be impossible for the phone to recognize her microscopic size like a finger push, but dammit she had to try at least.
She ran over to the button and started to constantly jump up and down, attempting to push as much of her weight on it as possible, before then going on all fours and pushing the button with her hands. That's when she thought of another idea. She threw off her socks so that she was barefoot too and prepared to jump on the button at the same time with all fours, because maybe the four skin contacts could be enough to count as one finger.
Once again in full bug position, and knew that this probably looked (and is) ridiculous, but not wanting to live as less than a bug for the rest of her life, if she has to embrace being a bug now, so shall she. Jumping down onto the button: indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
