This choice: chase Cindy down, and demand she stay in the room. • Go Back...Chapter #5chase Cindy down, and demand she stay in the room. by: Unknown You supposed that, eventually, word or at least knowledge of your magical cabinet of mystical potions would get out. Even you had to admit that, eventually, you would probably drink some potions or serve them to guests, and at some point trying out potions in the privacy of your room and swearing everyone who saw it to secrecy would get boring. At some point in the future you were probably going to drink something and you'd probably want to show it off. That said, you hadn't planned on revealing your inheritance so soon, nor in so gaudy a fashion. As such, you dropped your broom and dustpan, darted out of the room, and chased down your pouting roommate.
You couldn't decide whether to yell to get her attention, or whisper to avoid calling attention to the situation, and as such your call of "Cindy!" came out at normal speaking volume but with the cadence of whisper and the passion of a shout. Looking up and down the hall, you saw no sign of your partially serpentine roommate. Apparently, slithering came natural to her.
Figuring that she'd probably take the elevator down to the commons and leave through the main entrance rather than going down the rickety old fire exit at the far end of the hall, you sprinted right, half ran and half jumped down 3 the flights of stairs adjacent to the elevator, and burst into the common area just as you heard the ding of an arriving elevator to your right. Turning, you watched the doors very slowly creep open to reveal Cindy, still just as snaky as when she left.
Cindy gasped with surprise at seeing you down here, your hair a mess and a sweat already building on your forehead. "You need to work out more." Cindy pointed out, smiling.
"I jog!" You reply on reflex, looking down self consciously before you can address the elephant snake in the room. You did indeed jog, and most of your sweat was panic induced rather than athletic, but in fairness to Cindy your somewhat shut-in lifestyle meant that that mostly just made you lithe, not necessarily built. Most of your weight was-... more important things to do right now. "Go back to the room. I'm sorry I made you feel... however I made you feel. Please go before someone sees you."
The elevator doors began to shut between you, and you thought that would be the end of it, but as was her wont Cindy had to make your life more complicated. She tuck the tip of her tail between the doors, causing them to automatically retreat with a loud beep of protest, and she continued to raise that tip until it was pointing over your right shoulder. "I think it may be a bit late for that." Cindy said, smiling.
Turning around, you see that... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
