Chapter #5

You begin telling him who you are

"Ummm, well I'm what's called a human, and I'm from a place called earth....I was just minding my own business in my room when suddenly I was warped to that metal alcove you found me in, they had just pulled me over when you came in guns blazing...." You said nervously, not sure if you should meet his grey eyes or stare at the floor. The dog was interrogating you, not striking up simple conversation, and if you weren't careful he may do to you what he did to that boar guy.

"Guns blazing....interesting phrase. By the style and bagginess of your clothes, inferring resource abundance and no conservation in regard to said resources, I would put your civilization in some form of a post atomic age, a few centuries behind my our own. That much checks out, not to mention you aren't a species I've seen before, not even mentioning how small you are...." He said taking another draw from the cigar and grabbing a chair before taking a seat, slouching with his knees apart out towards you.

While seated he pulled down some two way screen from the ceiling that seemed to show neighboring star systems, each with names and listing settled worlds in the systems. He put his fingers on the screen and splayed them out, zooming the map out until a galaxy that looked like the milky way. You sat up a bit and he glanced at you.

"You know what this is Rookie?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"Of course, it's the milky way galaxy. Its the galaxy earth is in." You say excitedly, being able to express that you know something at least. He smiled a bit.

"You do realize you just informed a larger, more advanced race to the whereabouts of your home world, right?" He said with an amazed expression.

You pale and slouch a bit, you hadn't even made the assumption that saying such a blatant fact could have just doomed humanity. He chuckled a bit and shifted in his seat, grumbling and scratching at his tight suit. Before you eyes the suit seemed to dissolve, it started with his gloved hands and went up his arm and stopped past his shoulder like a tank top. Then the neck readjusted where it was originally just underneath his jaw, it faded down and turned into a V neck, exposing the top of his impressive chest. The material still hugged his skin, but it looked like it became more thin as well and less constraining. His legs went from having pads on his thighs to where you could make out his muscle groups. The biggest thing you noted that made you turn red was what originally was a rotund, all around smooth bulge, sagged and outlined a sheath and plump balls. You stare with your jaw slightly open and he blinked at you before realizing what your expression was from.

"Ah! That's right, you wouldn't know what nanomesh is. I got a chip installed in my spine that lets me control this layer of robotic fibers that cover my skin. I can control where I'm covered as well as density and hardness. It can be as thin as paper or as thick as a board, as long as it's attached to my fur or skin. Most imperial agents and soldiers have it, the stuff is also good at blocking plasma and energy projectiles, and is some way resistant to kinetic ones, but only when we make it thicker." He said as he zoomed into one arm of the galaxy.

"That's cool, but....can you take it off?" You ask, trying to get the conversation off of earth.

"Eh...not really, taking off the stuff would require me to have to re-calibrate the fiber hive to my chip. The best I can do without having to go back under the knife is to make the fibers into a ring or ankle bracelet or something like that. Which I do often, but most of the time I wear it like this or into something like boxers or briefs. Anyway I'm interrogating you here Rookie, what are some neighboring systems." He says all that without tearing his eyes away from the screen. Maybe you could mislead him?

"Umm I'm unsure, humans have a lot to figure out on our first planet, we haven't really been looking too hard beyond earth." You say, not quite lying. A growling noise came to your ears and you thought it as Bale growling at you, but it turned out to be his stomach, he eyed you and a chill ran over you from the glare in his eyes.

"Surely you've got something for me kid, if not I might just eat you." He said chuckling slightly, but the tone he said the threat made it very much a promise.

         "Uhhh...our system has two stars-"

"-And don't lie to me either, you're not gonna fool me I've heard it all." He said lookin away from the screen, not getting anywhere looking at the trillions of systems.

"Well then...we are a single system, our star is oranish-yellow. And I think we have a binary system...like 4 or 5 light years from out planet." You say, crestfallen. Bale types the information in and seemed to get a couple hundred results.

"What is earth like? Is it desert, tropical, frozen, or maybe all of that?" He said looking at you more softly.

"It has a bit of everything, continental with like 70% covered by water." You say, and once again he types that in, and the results shrink to a dozen or so.

You have four rocky planets and four gas giants, with an asteroid belt in between the two groups." He says quizzically.

         "...Yes....." You say, beaten.

Bale whistles amazed, and turns the screen to show you two corresponding points in the milky way. One point was labeled Sol C, and the other was labeled Sedi D. They were on almost parallel sides of the galaxy.

"Rookie, you're a long way from home. Those eggheads pulled you from space that is more than double the furthest point that our explorations have taken us in the three centuries of space travel. And in my haste to get the job done I think you're stuck here now." He says sliding the screen back into the ceiling.

"So then what happens now?" You ask folding your arms.

"Two choices" He said picking his cigar back up. "I turn you over to the Empire, and you become a media and scientific sensation. We have yet to meet another species capable of communication, so you're something of a game changer. Or....you stick with me and I keep lil' ol' earth under wraps." He finished while taking a draw from his cigar.

You stare at the big Dane and sigh. "I guess we should..."

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Turn me in...

2. Stay with you...

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
