The floorboards creak as you make your way further into the horror attraction. Looking around you can already tell something weird is going on. The place has a huge opening hall lined with doors and in the center, are stairs leading up to a balcony on the upper floors.
A terrified scream suddenly fills the air and you jump in surprise. That didn't sound like a recording, and it was... oddly familiar. Curiosity getting the better of you, you head over to where you think you heard it coming from.
As soon you open the door, something crashes into you and knocks you to the floor. A head of black hair fills your vision as a trembling woman with glasses lays on top of you.
It takes you a bit, but you eventually recognize her. "Laura?" you ask as you sit up. The woman in question jumps to her feet in shock, as if she hadn't even realized she was on top of you.
"Ethan!?" she replies hopefully. That proved it; this really was Laura, your old gaming buddy from back when you were a nerd.
"What happened? Are you alright?" Concern fills your voice as you get to your feet. Laura's answer is to hug you in a death grip, as if you'd vanish into thin air if she let go.
"Oh god!" She blurts out as tears begin to stream down her face. "I-I got lost in all of the-these weird rooms and, and, and then this thing started chasing me!" You return her hug as she cries into your shoulder.
The two of you stay like that until she finally calms down. A look at your watch reveals that you still have 50 minutes left, but a glance at Laura's shows she only has 30.
"L-Let's get out of here." the terrified girl says as she grabs you by the wrist and begins dragging you deeper into the Haunted House.
You go along with out a word. Even you can admit to yourself that you could be a jerk sometimes. But you couldn't leave Laura alone in a place like this. Not after see how badly it was getting to her. You remember that she used to love horror games, but they never shook her up like this.
