Long ago, two races coexisted on earth, the countless magically gifted humans, and the gargantuan monsters. One day, war broke out. The war proved devastating to mankind, their proud cities reduced to rubble, untold millions snuffed out underfoot. But when mankind was on the cusp of complete annihilation, the monsters ceased their onslaught. In a last, desperate attempt to secure the survival of their species, thousands of mankind’s most adept wizards gathered and cast a powerful spell at the cost of their own lives. The monsters were sealed deep beneath the earth’s surface by a powerful barrier that prevented allowed entry but prevented escape. Thousands upon thousands powerful human souls would be required to break the barrier…
Hundreds of years later, mankind still struggles to rebuild at only a fraction of their original numbers. Famines, poverty, corruption and inequality are so rampant that many believe mankind will never return to it’s former glory. The monsters were rumored to have gone extinct, their name reduced to boogeymen to scare children into behaving and tall tales to be told around campfires… but their assault is not forgotten, countless ruins and massive footprints stood as grim reminders of their immense might and wrath.
Things seem grim indeed, but what role do you play in this world? Are you a human who has unwittingly fallen to the monster's realm or a monster cursed to never see the light of the sun.
