Chapter #5

The following morning, back with Tim

    by: PrivateValentine Author IconMail Icon
You wake to the buzzing of the alarm on your phone, and the gentle touch of daylight streaming in your window, after a slightly uneasy night's sleep. What was up with Tracy yesterday, you wonder? The minute you asked if she was okay, she got all coy with you, walked away, and left without saying a word. You just hope she wasn't on drugs or something - you never took her for that type, and she didn't really hang around with that crowd, but her head was completely in the clouds.

Your thoughts, along with your morning routine, are interrupted by a knock on your door, and the sound of your mom's voice. "Tim! Are you awake?"

"Yeah, Mom!" you call back.

"Could you do me a favor and get your sister up? She won't answer me."

"Sure thing!" you say. You doubt you'll be able to, since Beverly never really listens to anyone and could sleep through a bomb, but you don't want to have that conversation through the door. Besides, there's...a slight chance it'll work. Non-zero, at least. So you finish getting your clothes on and head down the hallway to your younger sister's room, giving the door a knock.

"Bev!" you call through the door, forceful but not quite yelling. "C'mon, time to get up! I know it's Sunday but Mom's orders, not mine!" No answer. "Beverly, you could at least tell me to fuck off, you okay in there?" Silence.

That's bizarre. First Tracy ditches you and now Beverly won't even yell insults at you through the door? Why is everyone so weird the last couple of days? Though admittedly this is even more out of character.

Hesitantly, you grab the knob and turn it, staying quiet as to let the rattling announce you. When you still get no response, you say, "Bev, I'm opening the door!" By this point, you don't expect a real response, though you're a little surprised there isn't even the sound of the door being braced by a chair or something to keep you out. You push the door open, and find that your sister is...

You have the following choices:

1. curled up in a ball on her bed

*Noteb*
2. crumpled on the floor, breathing but not moving

*Noteb*
3. nowhere to be found

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
