When Itsee happened to find a smartphone with the Monstr app on it, she thought she had won the romantic lottery. The Monstr app promised there was a human for every monster, and Itsee was sure that meant her as well!
At first Itsee was very excited. Her profile was getting plenty of views. Lots and lots of views. Thousands and thousands of views.
But not one right swipe.
After a couple of months, Itsee's profile stopped getting views all together.
Things were even worse than before Itsee had discovered the Monstr app. Before, Itsee could blame her loneliness on the fact that she was so isolated. She would never have a chance to find romance because she never had a chance to encounter a potential romantic partner.
The Monstr app robbed Itsee of that false reasoning. It instead amplified the universe's response of, "Sorry, Itsee, but it's you."
Itsee was about to give up on love and let one of the swamp creatures eat her when one of those fancy pants fairies intervened.
Cardashuh was a slender, busty blonde fairy who was hot even by fairy standards. She had used the Monstr app herself a few times before she began working for Monstr as a customer representative. Specifically, she worked for a sub-niche community in the general niche community of the Monstr app users.
There were a number of tiny (one foot tall or less) female "monsters" who used the Monstr app, hoping to find a giant, gentle human male lover who would treat them like a princess. Of course, there were several human male responders who, because of their own inadequacies with female humans, wanted to date tiny female monsters for the purpose of abusing them or even eating them! This always ended badly for the human male in question(and often in death).
So customer representatives like Cardashuh did their best to match up tiny female monsters with male humans who actually did want to treat tiny female monsters like princesses (and incidentally, not get killed or maimed by same said tiny monsters in the process). It was while performing her duties that Cardashuh stumbled across Itsee's profile, and the dearth of responses it was receiving. Cardashuh could understand why. Itsee was a swamp sprite, a very distant cousin to the fairy (and fairies preferred to keep as much distance between themselves and their cousins as possible). The biggest problem with swamp sprites was that one always smelled a swamp sprite before one saw them.
So Cardashuh went and located Itsee.The first thing Cardashuh did was address Itsee's smell. Swamp sprites in and of themselves do not smell. But the smell of the swamp has so thoroughly permeated a swamp sprite that the odor might as well be inherent to a swamp sprite. So Cardashuh moved Itsee out of the swamp, magically burned all of Itsee's clothing and began cleaning Itsee. It took two weeks of soap, water and magic, but Cardashuh finally, completely, totally and permanently removed Itsee's horrendous smell. Itsee now smell of exotic flowers and spices.
Itsee's appearance changed as well. Unlike their shorter cousins, the fairies(who average between seven to eight inches in height), swamp sprites tend to be about a foot tall. A third of that proved to be accumulated grime, because once the cleaning was done, Itsee was only eight inches high. Before the cleaning, Itsee was this greenish, vaguely feminine shaped figure with misshapen wings. Once she was cleaned up, Itsee's figure revealed itself to be as graceful, as symmetrical and as pronouncedly feminine as Cardashuh's. But where fairies tended to be brighter hues and colors, Itsee's colors were darker. Itsee's olive complexion was flawless, her dark straight hair was long and lustrous, and she possessed the lightly checkered, bright red-brown wings of a swamp metalmark butterfly.
Once Cardashuh got Itsee cleaned up and discovered what a treasure had been hiding under the muck and smell, there was no way she was letting Itsee move back into the swamp. So Cardashuh moved Itsee in with her. Itsee found herself surrounded by the fancy pants fairies.
Itsee's exotic appearance and her initially shyness endeared her to the fairy community, who became enamored with her. Itsee herself was not only happy to be surrounded by all her new fairy friends, but also by animals who saw her as a playmate and a friend, and never as a midday snack.
Itsee quickly learned all the ins and outs of being a fairy. Meanwhile, Cardashuh redid Itsee's profile, and the once swamp sprite and now fairy found herself with plenty of humans wanting to date her.
On one hand, this absolutely thrilled Itsee. On the other hand, she wasn't sure she wanted to date humans anymore. She and Cardashuh had become close. Very close. And Itsee was wondering if she should forget wanting to date a human and instead see if her new best friend wanted to date.
