Chapter #5

Uncovering Secrets

    by: Rock-writer Author IconMail Icon
Ashe knew exactly what she wanted to do. With a single thought, she exchanged her knowledge of Talon’s plans with Widowmaker. She closed her eyes as new information started filling her head. Various plans and goals coming and going. Then she encountered Talon’s current objective. Project Echo. A mission to track down an omnic? Why was an omnic so important to Talon? She dug deeper into her new knowledge. It seems like they were tracking its location. It made its way across a few cities then some trains before stopping. Her eyes opened wide.

“There’s no way.” She whispered to herself.

It was the box he wanted. That's what Talon was after. A scowl washed over her face as she realized just how deep his interference had become. Angry, she clenched her fist before throwing a punch at the wall.

“Just how much is that backstabbing idiot va me baiser!” She huffed, breathing heavily. She relaxed her hand as she leaned against the wall before trying to look for more information. Unfortunately, she had reached the end of what Talon currently knew about this omnic. But the omnic she had seen in that box was valuable enough to draw a good chunk of resources and attention from Talon. So clearly it wasn’t something they were going to give up on.

“Now, why was this omnic so special that Overwatch and Talon would be interested in it?” She mused to herself. “Well, clearly both sides desperately want it, so maybe it might be worth taking for myself. And I got just the thing for that.” She grinned, thumbing the wand.

“But first a test.” She thought as she wished for her index fingers to be replaced by one of Bob's fingers. After a short glow, Ashe flexed her new mechanical finger. It seemed to be attached to her hand via a normal interface, as if it was a normal part of her body. It looked comical compared to her remaining human fingers as it was easily triple the size of all of her other fingers. Switching it back, she knew that exchanging things with an omnic wouldn't cause problems, which made the next step of her plan even easier. As much as she liked the skills this body had, she was too interested in what this Echo was. Deciding that it would be better if she did this in her old body, she closed her eyes for a second before opening them again and was greeted by her old face in the mirror.

“There, all back to normal. Now for the fun part.” She smirked to herself.

Closing her eyes again she thought about having Echo’s body, the wand glowing unseen by her. Instantly she felt very free and unburdened, almost as if her mind had been running in molasses up until now. She could feel a multitude of directed thoughts all happening at the same time and information was streaming in from various sources at speeds that would have boggled any human brain. But she understood it all and could read it as easily as reading a book. Anything she wanted to know, she instantly recalled. She knew what the temperature, light level, and sound level was in the bathroom she was in. She could hear all of her other lackeys goofing off in the other room. All without opening her eyes. Slowly she opened her eyes and instinctively looked down at her hands. They were made of a durable, flexible material with 3 of her fingers on each hand being made out of hard light. Her arms were sleek and made out of some kind of alloy. As soon as she wondered what it was, she was immediately granted that information by her supercharged mind, running on a processor that was much more powerful than most computers in the world.

“This is pretty strange.” She said to herself. Her voice was unfamiliar and without an accent, but smooth and energetic.

Moving over to the mirror, she took in her new body. Mostly white and made of the same material her arms were made out of, it seemed surreal yet familiar as she knew about every inch of this body thanks to the large database her mind was pulling information from. She reached up and touched her face, it also being made of the same hard light that her fingers were made out of. She moved her hands down and slid them over her body, the smooth white material felt good to the sensation of touch her hard light fingers were giving her. She could see that her arms were not attached to her body and knew that she only had about a foot of motion before the subsystems prevented her arm from moving further away. Looking further down, she knew her legs worked in the same way before realizing that she had been floating the entire time. Her flight seemed to be as second nature to her as breathing would be, if she still needed to breathe. Testing it out a bit she hovered higher in the air before coming back down.

“This body is exhilarating!” She exclaimed as she checked the wing like parts attached to her back. “I think I can do a lot with a body like this.”

Wanting to test her weapons, she pointed at one of the stall doors and fired a burst of hard light from her fingertip.

“I feel so powerful.” Ashe said as a smug grin washed over her glowing blue face.

While she was exploring her physical body, she also discovered a subsystem called the adaptive circuit. Accessing this system, she was overwhelmed with information about all manner of individuals and their combat properties. Sorting through the files, she recognised Tracer. Deciding on her, she engaged the adaptive circuits and she felt a wave of hard light wash over herself. A moment later she was standing on the floor.

“Oi, that was pretty strange.” She said Tracer’s trademark voice and accent came out of her mouth. She could feel the personality circuits coercing her into acting like Tracer.

She looked into the mirror and saw a hard light version of tracer staring back at her.

“I’d say it's time to get back to normal.” She said with Tracer’s trademark cheeky grin before disengaging the adaptive circuits.

Back in her normal echo body, she floated out of the bathroom and out a side door wanting to truly test her new flight system. Floating outside, she launched into the air and soared around the building. Flying was exhilarating as she looped around and twisted and turned gracefully in the sky. Finding a few rocks nearby she let loose a few sticky grenades from her hands, the blue grenades exploding after a few seconds. Then she channeled a focused beam carving a path in the rocks.

“Seems like I’ve got quite the arsenal.” She chuckled to herself.

With this new body, she had quite the possibilities available to her now. She could root herself deep in Overwatch with the wand and do more than she ever could have as the leader of the Deadlock Gang. On the other hand, she could make some more changes with new databases. Perhaps she could make something that would give her a huge advantage. Putting a finger up to her chin she thought about her options.

You have the following choices:

1. Infiltrate Overwatch

*Noteb*
2. Make some more changes with the wand

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
