This choice: "Let's just be... friends." • Go Back...Chapter #4Friend of the Weavile by: irven “Let’s just be... friends,” said Weavile. “Taking care of a pet sounds like a lotta work. And if we can talk to each other, I think it’d make more sense to call you a friend.”
“That makes sense to me,” you said quickly. You were happy to hear that this Dark-type was willing to call you a friend, rather than treating you as a pet. That would be too demeaning.
Weavile absentmindedly glanced down at her bloodied claws and winced. “Oops, I forgot to clean up. It’s a bad idea to track blood around after hunting. I don’t want any other Pokemon hunting me down. Excuse me, dude.”
Weavile hopped up, shaking the ground slightly, and sprinted away. You watched her leave, worried that she would be gone long, but she returned in less than a minute. You saw that the blood on her claws and fur was gone, and she seemed a bit wet. She must have washed herself in a nearby water source.
Suddenly, you felt thirsty. “Hey, Weavile, is there some water nearby?” you asked.
Weavile nodded as she stood over you. “Yep, there’s a river over there. That’s how I washed up. Why, are you thirsty?”
“Kind of. Can you bring me over there?”
Weavile crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. “You want me to carry you, get your food from that bag, bring you to the river... you’re high-maintenance, dude.”
You gulped. “W-well, I’d take care of myself if I wasn’t so tiny. I’m really sorry if I’m being a burden, but I can’t do anything about that.”
“Don’t worry about it,” said Weavile, giving you a grin. “It’s not too much trouble. And it’s worth it, if it means I get to have a tiny human. Well, anyway, if you want some water, it’s a quick trip to the river. I’ll just carry you.”
Weavile crouched and reached for you, but you stepped back as you saw her sharp claws coming closer. “Um... maybe I can just ride in my bag again?” you asked.
“Nope,” replied the Dark-type. “That thing’s annoying to carry around. And I’ll probably have to carry you in my claws plenty of times from now on, so we might as well get used to it!”
Weavile chuckled, and her paw shot toward you. You yelped as her cold claws wrapped around your naked body, barely avoiding cutting you. You were lifted off the ground and up to Weavile’s fuzzy chest, then she stood up and ran out of the cave, bouncing you up and down uncomfortably.
You’d been held by her once before, but never while she was running. On the one hand, you were happy to not be bounced around inside your bag, banging against all the stuff in there. At the same time, it was scary to be out in the open, held up above the ground, with sharp claws around you. You closed your eyes and leaned into Weavile’s chest, feeling a small amount of safety and comfort from her soft, warm body.
“We’re here!” the Dark-type said suddenly. You opened your eyes and looked around, and sure enough, you were next to a river now. Weavile sat down and placed you on the ground, and waited as you walked over and began scooping water up into your mouth. It was cold, but you were glad to stay hydrated.
As you drank, Weavile glanced around and perked up her ears, trying to listen for any potential threats. She knew that it would be more difficult for her now that she had you with her, rather than living alone like she used to. She would have to protect you, and take care of you. But at the same time, she was happy to have a friend. She’d always been a loner, because she hated dealing with other Weavile and Sneasel that lived in the area. None of them were nice, and they were often very conniving and even aggressive towards her. But this tiny human was different, and she thought it would be a good opportunity to try having a friend.
