"There goes that buzzing again." You said to yourself. That's the third time you've heard it and it appears to get louder the deeper you travel into this fake forest. What was it? Was it some kind of bug? The thought made you shudder. Bugs were probably bigger than you now or on par if you were lucky.
You prayed to god that it wasn't something dangerous like a spider or roach... or termite. Although spiders, roaches, and termites don't buzz. Well, most roaches anyway. Perhaps it was downed fly or some kind of bee. It wouldn't be the first time yellowjackets invaded your house. You could still remember watching your little sisters scream in terror not wanting to get stung.
Granted you didn't want to get stung either, but as the man of the house it was up to you to deal with the pest problems. So you were no stranger to insects. But things were different now, you'd lost your size advantage and now it was an even playing field. It one of those creepy crawlies got their mandibles around you it was all over.
*BUZZZ*
*BUZZZ*
*BUZZZ*
There goes the sound again and it's even louder than before. In fact, it should be only be a few more steps ahead just beyond more fibers. You took a second to calm your nerves. A part of you wanted to just ignore it, just walk around the sound, but that might take too long and you were current in a race against the clock.
Was it worth it to just ignore and waste more time?
No!
"Screw it! I'm coming through!" You declared. You peeled back the carpet fibers and your eyes widened. A black body, multiple limbs, wings, and above all else, slightly bigger than you... a gnat. A gnat was bigger than you. A gnat was tangled up in your carpet.
A part of you felt bad for the insect. Trapped like a fly in a spider's web. Maybe you should untangle the little guy? Gnats were harmless from what you understood, just annoying. That's when an idea hit you. Gnats were annoying and fast. If you could free it, then maybe you could hitch a ride and get noticed.
But then again because gnats were annoying and well... bugs. There was a high probability that someone in the house might just try to kill it and by extension... you. Was it worth the risk?
