Lyn sighed and stretched comfortably underneath a nice, big tree. The green-haired girl was laying down to relax after a another day of fighting of bandits in the Sacean Plains. She plucked a flower from the field and held it up to look at it.
"No matter how many bandits I cut down, it seems there are always more to come..." Lyn mused, twirling the flower in between her fingers. Lyn sighed again, and tossed the flower away.
A calm, cool breeze blew by, catching the flower in it and carrying it away. Lyn smiled. As sure as the sky was blue and the grass was green, she'd go on fighting to protect her beloved home. With a somewhat renewed vigor, Lyn jumped up from her spot. She wiped her forehead and watched the sunset for a minute.
"That's enough relaxing for today, time to head home, I suppose." Lyn said to herself.
Lyn was about to reach down and pick up her sword, when all of a sudden someone yelled out something to her. The swordswoman looked at the source of the call and saw a rather bulky man stomping towards her, from his tattered clothing and the axe he was carrying Lyn could tell right away that this man was another bandit.
"You! You killed my buddies! Now you die!" The bandit shouted and charged at Lyn.
Lyn acted quickly and dodged the bandit's attacks. However, in doing so, Lyn had inadvertently moved away from her sword, which still lay underneath the tree she was laying under before, and now the bandit was between her and her weapon.
"Don't you bandits ever give up?" Lyn asked the thief.
"Hey! We need to steal to live! What right do you have to play executioner with us!?" The angry bandit shouted back. He grabbed something from inside his pocket, a small bag.
"More money you stole?" Lyn said. She was looking back and forth between her opponent and her sword, trying to find a good time to make a break for her weapon to end this encounter.
"No, girl, not money." The bandit told her, smirking. He held the bag up and motioned behind himself. "You want it?"
The bandit then walked backwards slowly, keeping his eyes on the green-haired young woman in front of him, until he was next to Lyn's sword. The bandit chuckled, and then kicked the sword over to Lyn's feet. Lyn gasped, wondering what sort of trick this guy was planning.
"How nice of you... I didn't know bandits had honor." Lyn said. She was sure he was plotting something, but she wasn't sure what, all she knew was that she needed a weapon to make it out of this alive. So Lyn slowly bent down to retrieve her blade, but just as she did, the bandit poured out the contents of his bag, a strange looking powder, and blew it into Lyn's face.
"Gack!" Lyn coughed. She recoiled, grabbing her sword and turning away from the bandit. "P-Poison!?"
"Gya ha ha!" The bandit laughed and shook his head. "Not exactly..."
Lyn wondered then why the bandit would do such a low move in the middle of a fight, especially after giving her back her sword. She recovered a moment later and looked up the man. Lyn gasped, the bandit wasn't really that tall before, she was looking at him at almost eye-to-eye before. That's when Lyn noticed that he wasn't just big, he was getting bigger right before her eyes.
"What is this!?" Lyn demanded. Already, the bandit was twice as big as he was when he first appeared, and Lyn was starting to get worried.
"How do you like that? A nice little shrinking powder, stolen by none other than the men you killed this afternoon!" The bandit shouted and then kicked the shrinking young woman down.
Lyn hardly had time to react to the bandit's attack and fell. She clutched her stomach in pain. This ever growing bandit's kick was too strong, Lyn knew she was getting weaker by the second, smaller and weaker!
"Hyah!" Lyn shouted as she grabbed at her sword to prepare to strike back, but when she did, she only ended up striking the bandit's boot.
Lyn gasped as she looked up at the now giant of a man. The top of her head only came up to the toes of his boot, and the bandit himself looked to be at least 100 feet tall from her new point of view. She had shrunken so small, and so quickly that she didn't even time to process it. Lyn nearly dropped her sword at seeing how massive the difference in size now was, not to mention the difference in strength. Even though Lyn had indeed cut at the bandit's boot, it didn't leave even the smallest dent in the footwear.
The bandit laughed at Lyn's plight, and Lyn had to cover her ears from how loud his voice was to her now. The shrunken woman collapsed on the ground, fearing that this would the end of her. She knew she was far too tiny and weak to do anything against this evil bandit, the only thing she could do is run, but her new size she wondered if she'd even get far...
