Lena was once more working her way through some of the more 'off the record' of her brother's projects, this case being a strange book he'd failed to get open, both him and all the scientists he'd had working on it. The book was strange, too old to date and gave off an energy signature that hinted at a very strong power source, but was completely unrecognisable to human technology, also there was a complex locking mechanism sealing it shut that despite the efforts of several teams still remained attached to the book and keeping it sealed.. As Lena entered her hidden basement lab, she was glad neither Supergirl of the DEO were aware of the book's existence, mostly because of the headache it would most likely cause for her before they take it off her hands 'for her own good' or whatever bullshit excuse they give her.
One of the scientists in charge of trying to open the lock keeping the book sealed had jokingly theorised the device was waiting for someone worthy to find it before it could be opened and whatever power it held could be unleashed, something Lena thought of as really stupid.... until she rested her hand on the locking mechanism and the thing clicked open and fell off the front of the book 'Well shit' Lena thinks as she lifts the book 'I guess Anderson was right after all' she then opens the book and her eyes were open for the first time......
She understands, this artefact, known in most worlds as the Book of Destiny, could shape reality to the users preference with simply a thought. Lena may think big with her goals, curing cancer being her most well known one, but she also knew fucking with reality tended to go badly so completely warping the world was not a good plan. Still she was tempted to do one thing, something she hoped would make her life a little better in the long run.
"I want to get out of the shadow of the Luthor name" she willed into the book, which pulsed and rippled before following through with the vague command
What did she do?
1) In this world the Luthors aren't Evil (Lillian's still a c**t because Lena can't imagine her any other way) Lex is even accepting of Law Abiding Aliens and is still best friends with Clark after sharing his secret with him and Lois back when they were in their teens. Lena isn't CEO anymore, instead Head of R&D for LexCorp where she is much happier. Also one night when her and Lex were stargazing what they thought was a meteor hit near their house and Lena discovered a tiny pod with a girl inside, who she made friends with and later became her tiny lover: Kara Zor-El. The only snag for Lena is Kara's mind wasn't as affected by the Book as you would expect( having just arrived from Earth 1 as the rewriting took hold) so while she won't be freaking out about her size, it's still Supergirl Kara in the body of Lena's girlfriend and jokingly called sex slave Kara Astra Ze-Luthor. Whoops
2) Lena never had to deal with the Luthor name because she was never adopted by the Luthors. Lena was one of a rare number of individuals who were born and inch tall and grew to a max of 4 inches in height, and would have basically lived the life of the borrowers if she hadn't been discovered by Kara soon after arriving on earth. Now in National City she was seen by most as an exotic pet of her owner Kara Danvers (and as more a toy to some, given the offers from Maggie and Alex to take her out for some fun), except by Kara herself, who still saw the Irish ravenette as her best (and oldest) friend. The blond becoming a literal Goddess to her in size really didn't help quell the crush she had been developing on Supergirl, but oh well.
