“We’ve just received word of pirate activity in the following coordinates. Chart a course and engage!” Captain Bassette commanded. Not a bad first order if she did think so herself as she smirked out at the stars before her.
“Pirate...activity, Ma’am?” A helmsmanwith dark skin and curly puffs of chestnut hair asked. “Isn’t that a bit vague?”
It’s as much detail as we need to go crush pirate scum, lieutenant. And in the future I’d appreciate a little respect and restraint in my bridge crew, understood?”
“Yes ma’am” the officer backed down and returned to her console. Perfect, already she had made a decisive decision and stamped out any doubt of her leadership in practically the very first minute of her command. Avery was doing a better job at being captain than she had even hoped.
“You know she does have a point” her second in command whispered to her. He was a tall thin man with short blonde hair who may not have been fully human but the captain felt as though that would be rude to just ask at this point “is it a distress call, an arms deal, a base? It feels like we should know more”
“It doesn’t seem like much more than a blip on the radar, practically nothing.” Captain Bassette waved off his concerns as the whirring of the warp engines began ” it seems like the perfect first mission for this crew.
