Grocery Store

    by: Steamgear Author IconMail Icon
A few days had passed since the incident. The weekend felt very intense, with the nagging feeling that someone might have told a teacher or their parents. Monday passed with the same feeling, but by evening, it had faded. Tuesday in turn was a normal day and by the end of it, the incident was in the back of your mind. Partially that was due to you having more important things to think about.

'Nick, please stop at Rhea's Market and pick up a gallon of milk, a dozen of eggs...' The list went on from there, but you had the basic idea looking over the text message from your mother when you finally got out of school. Rhea's Market was a grocery store that you passed every day on your way back from school. It would be a slight detour, but there wasn't much point in arguing about it, especially via text. At the very least your were confident your mom would reimburse you for what you had to spend.

A few minutes later, you'd pulled into the parking lot for Rhea's market, parked, and gone inside. The grocery store wasn't too terribly crowded, stepping in you saw at least a few people there. Though glancing around, you grumbled as you realized no shopping carts were present at the entrance. Hoping, with any luck, you might find one abandoned further in the store, you begin to walk.

For the most part the customers you passed looked to be a bit older than you, likely college students restocking their dorms after classes. Some seemed a bit more drained than others, as you could confirm when you brushed shoulders with a tired-looking blonde as she hobbled around the corner. She turned to face you for a moment, giving you a good view of the typical too-lazy-to-care college girl attire; graphic t-shirt, sweat pants, and Ugg boots. She grumbled something, but otherwise continued on, carrying a basket belabored with junk food and ramen.

Still, she was a lot better of an encounter than what you found on the next aisle. A mother in her early thirties, wearing a frustrated expression stepped past you, her two pretreen children parading after with cheers and screams. The mother was pretty good looking, especially given her red hair and hefty chest, but her two bratty kids definitely encouraged you to shuffle past her in your continued search for a cart. You glanced back, silently hoping a look might quiet the two kids down. The brown-haired girl, likely the younger one, was constantly trying to sneak items from the shelves into the cart. In contrast to the red-head who waited till the right moment to tell on her sister, in hopes of getting her in trouble.

"Just need to find a cart and get out of here," You muttered to yourself, briefly thankful that as much as your sisters got on your nerves, none of them were that ill-behaved.

The task you spoke of would soon become that much more difficult. As you exited the previous aisle, you felt a wave of nausea. Your vision wavered and faded for a second as you stumbled backwards onto your ass. The world around you felt like it was expanding as your stomach did a flip. You blinked a few times, your vision returning to you as you held back a wave of nausea. The tiles beneath you shook. Boom. Boom! BOOM!

A massive black object landed to your left, lifting up a second later to reveal a dusty tread pattern. It took a few seconds to realize as you watched the object continue to rise and fall. You'd been shrunk!

Watching with new realization, you saw the the black object was actually a massive tennis shoe. Following it up, you quickly made out a dark-skinned woman, probably only a year or two older than you. Judging by her outfit, black shoes, black pants, and a green apron...she was a worker at Rhea's Market. Admittedly, you couldn't help but stare as she squatted down a few dozen feet away from you, backside pressing against her tight pants. She stared at a display of cereal boxes ahead of herself, regarding it with a bored expression that suggested she was feigning working.

Glancing around at the sound of more foot steps, you saw that more people were closing in on this intersection. The mother of two was pushing her cart down, the wheels closing in dangerously face. The college girl with the basket was coming up the aisle you'd just come from, not really paying attention where she was going. Fortunately, rather than all running over you....they stopped. The mother stopped to scold her two daughters as she caught one trying to sneak a chocolate bar in. The college girl paused to look at the prices of mac and cheese. You had time to make a choice now....which would you try to get the attention of?

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. The Worn-Out College Girl

2. The Mother and Her Two Brats

*Noteb*
3. The Bored Rhea's Market Worker

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
