Go Hang Out at a Norm Bar for Once

    by: SWLatina Author IconMail Icon
Technically The Jolly Green is a Norm bar, in that it's clientele aren't strictly Shrinks. There is a transparent wall between Shrinks and Norms, but the atmosphere isn't about friendly interaction. It's more of a glass bowl situation, with the Norms able to watch every action that the Shrinks do in their portion of the bar. Of course, it's a look don't touch situation, but not everyone looking at the Shrinks is sympathetic toward the Shrink cause.

Still, it allows a touch of danger for the Shrink who somehow has managed to live a protected life from the real world. Like you've managed to do.

You pick a light green sleeveless summer dress to wear, something that sets off your dusky skin. You put your long dark hair in a loose ponytail and call a car service that specializes in serving shrinks.

You weren't sure what you were expecting from the The Jolly Green, but it wasn't so much exciting as it was creepy. Most of the Shrinks there were men, and the few female Shrinks were "working girls." The Shrink portion of the bar was completely transparent, and was set in the middle of the Norm portion. There wasn't anywhere in the Shrink bar you could go without being seen. And as soon as you entered the bar, there were a dozen pair of Norm eyes following every step you made. And everyone of them was trying to get your attention, miming and mouthing things at you, or typing things into their phone in a bid to get you to see what they were writing.

After reading a couple of notes, you start ignoring the Norms. This pisses more than one of them off, who bang on the glass. And are promptly pulled away by bouncer types.

The fact that you sit quietly at the bar, sipping your non-alcoholic drink and pointedly ignoring the Norms staring at you doesn't stop them from trying to get your attention.

Two hours later, you're even more sober than you started the evening. You glance up at the guys trying to get your attention. All of them want you to go to the "phone room," where they can have a conversation with you. With the safety glass between you, of course. It seems a shame to not have a conversation with at least one of them. Your car service will be here in ten minutes. You could either have on more virgin mary, or talk to one of the guys until your car service gets here.
