Robin had been completely blindsided when she actually clicked with the young kid of a guy she had been dating who was a student from Lily's kindergarten class, so it had actually been harder on her losing contact with the kid than no longer dating his dad. Talking to Lily about it her friend suggested maybe offering to babysit for Doug as a way to stay in contact with him. Robin had some misgivings but decided to take Lily's advice and talked to her ex to babysit the kid. Seeing that she actually liked his son the father agreed. One her first night of babysitting for Doug which of them came up with the idea of that lead to Robin ending up in diapers?
