This choice: "Could I just stay here for now?" 9-Volt asked, terrified of 5-Volt • Go Back... "Could I just stay here for now?" 9-Volt asked. A part of him knew he'd need to own up to his mom sooner than later, but right now he'd rather not face her while at this size. Ashley looked at him a bit perplexed. "I don't know if that's a good idea 9-Volt, i'm sure your mom is worried sick, isn't she?" Ashley said, with a bit of a gentler demeanor than the tiny Nintendo fanboy had expected. This made 9-Volt hesitate as he could only imagine that his mom was probably freaking out right now, and a pang of guilt hit him. He looked down, avoiding looking up at Ashley's gaze.
"How long do you think it'll take for you to brew that potion to grow me back?" He asked. He didn't look up, hoping that maybe it wouldn't take TOO long.
"Probably about a day to brew, Red just needed to grab some ingredients. As it stands you'd be in my way more than anything if you stayed here." Ashley said, being far blunter about her feelings on the matter. 9-Volt bit his lip as he finally found the courage to look up at her.
"Would it be possible to at least hold off on calling her until tomorrow maybe...?" 9-Volt asked. Tomorrow was a school day, and there was no way he'd be able to go like this, though he didn't know if that was what he should be worrying about. His whole mind right now was kinda scattershot as he looked up at Ashley. She let off a sigh and closed her eyes for a second in thought.
"It is probably late to be calling her. Very well 9-Volt, we'll discuss it in the morning then." She opened her eyes and locked eyes with the tiny elementary school student and offered a tiny, brief smile. 9-Volt felt a wave of relief course through him before his heart started to beat rapidly again at her next action, as fingers with enough strength in them to crush him started to reach down. He felt an instinctive fear course through him as he fell to his rear and inched away from her. It was then that the fingers hesitated as Ashley saw this, and her face fell to her default frown.
"9-Volt, i'm going to need to pick you up off of my bed." She said, sounding slightly impatient. 9-Volt gulped before he had an idea. "Couldn't you just...lower your hand and let me climb into it maybe?" He asked. Ashley wanted to roll her eyes, she wasn't going to hurt the kid, but it didn't hurt to let him feel safe. He did offer to be her test subject, and the final brew of the potion had the results she wanted.
"Alright then." Ashley laid her hand flat, palm up down on her bed, near the little Nintendo aficionado as he looked forward at it, taking some hesitant steps towards it. Her hand was large enough for him to lay down on and stretch out he felt like...and something about that made him uneasy. Someone being so big felt unnatural, but then again, it was him that was small right now.
He was walking slowly towards her palm and Ashley was losing her patience entirely at his hesitation. "Hurry up or i'm breaking that Nintendo thing Red promised you." She said without a hint of warmth. 9-Volt gulped as he scrambled for the palm of her hand, climbing on top of it and settling in as she looked down, her red glare piercing.
"There, that wasn't such a big deal, now was it?" She said, almost a growl as 9-Volt gulped, maybe he would be better off with his mom...
His stomach started to lurch as she raised her palm up, lifting him from the bed and giving him an intense feeling of vertigo. 9-Volt closed his eyes as he didn't want to look down, but he felt and heard Ashley's powerful movements as she went to leave her bedroom. Her movements caused him to be well aware of his precarious position, and as she went to turn around a corner, the movement caused him to fall to his side, and force him to look at the far below ground. With a gulp he got up and gripped her thumb as hard as he could, causing Ashley to look at him. She let off a weary sigh.
"I'm not going to drop you either. Stop this nonsense 9-Volt." She said.
'Easy for you to say...you're not the one the size of a rat!' 9-Volt thought as she kept walking, him still clinging to her thumb. She wasn't going to bother anymore. It was then that 9-Volt noticed that they were approaching a great wide square with a white tarp...er, tablecloth on it. And there was...food!
9-Volt felt his stomach grumble as he realized how hungry he was, and Ashley promptly lowered her hand to the table to let him off. It was then that he saw a giant bit of cheese, with some crackers as big as him!
"It isn't much, but feel free to have some." Ashley said as she sat in a chair, leaning one arm on the table and resting her head in the hand that she propped up on it. She and Red had already eaten, but she figured that he needed to eat too. She watched as he happily approached a cheese slice larger than him and tore off a chunk, happily munching on it. He did seem pretty happy right now. She almost felt a smile creep to her face as she observed him. It was then that a loud presence decided to make itself known.
"Hey Ashley! I found the things ya needed to fix 9-Volt!" Red.
The imp was back, and seemed to make a beeline for Ashley's room before she decided it'd be best to call out.
"In the dining room Red." She said, and seconds after, he floated in, looking triumphant as he held a sack at his back...and had a clothespin on his nose.
"What's with the..." Ashley started before her eyes widened and she pinched her own nose as she started coughing. She took a quick look at 9-Volt on the table to realize that he was also pinching his nose, and looked almost ready to retch. She hoped he got enough, because his appetite might be ruined...
"Yeah, the stinking corpse lily kinda lingers." Red said as he looked to Ashley, then the tiny 9-Volt. "So pal, I gotta ask, how is it being that small?" Red found himself floating to the tiny kid, looming over him like some kind of great demon...though 9-Volt was more preoccupied with the horrid stench the imp had brought with him.
"Red, get those to the brewing room." Ashley said, hastily trying to get the presence of the ingredients away from this room. "And get the corpse flower distilled!" She commanded as Red groaned. "Ashley...it's laaaaaaate." He said and she merely offered a glare.
"Alright alright! But i'm just doing the corpse flower for now!" He said as he opted to not spur Ashley's already depleted patience. Ashley let her look linger until Red was out of the room before returning her attention to 9-Volt. Hesitantly, she lowered her fingers from her nose to find that the smell had left, and 9-Volt had returned to eating, though with less enthusiasm. "Once you're done i'm going to bed, we'll figure out where you'll be sleeping too for tonight." Ashley said.
9-Volt looked up at her as his appetite faded and had just one question for now.
"...is a stinking corpse lily necessary to grow me...?" He asked with hesitation. Ashley sighed.

9-Volt couldn't help but feel his accommodations were a bit degrading...he was inside of a dresser drawer, with a handkerchief as a blanket and some old shirts as his mattress and pillow. He looked up at the looming visage of Ashley, now out of her familiar red dress and in sleeping pajamas. Her hair was also down, no longer with the pigtails he knew her by, she almost looked like an entirely different person, even her usual intimidating demeanor was gone as she regarded him with what looked to be a light smile.
"This should do fine. I'll see you in the morning." She said, as soon she shut the drawer, effectively cutting 9-Volt off from the dim light outside, and the rest of the world. He hoped tomorrow would see things get better...hopefully with his size restored, a Switch, and only grounded for HALF of the rest of his life by his mom. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
