Two chatterboxes like Pam and Katie couldn't have gone five minutes without talking to somebody; it may as well have been each other. Especially since they got along so well. Pam's extroverted, opinionated attitude was well-bolstered by Katie's enabling tendencies. Pam liked to talk, Katie liked to listen, it was just science!
It was break-time at the Gilbert & Heil offices. The clattering of keyboards silenced for one oh-so-brief thirty minute period before lunchtime where the wheels of office chairs would turn, and socialization finally wasn't frowned upon. Pam and Katie lived for these little breaks. These little tidbits of time where they were allowed to talk amongst themselves. Sure they could get up, get a snack (Pam often did - too often for her own good!) maybe grab some coffee. But she practically lived for the four words that she heard every day, just like clockwork...
"Oh. My. God." Pam held out her hands and smiled excitedly, "Katie."
The lanky number cruncher took a satisfied munch of her kruller. This was bound to be tasty - almost as much as this donut!
"Yessss?" The slender brunette smiled smiled, her cheeks bunching mischeviously
"Please tell me you know." her pudgy partner giggled, "Like, that you're aware of this... this thing."
"This thing?"
"This thing that's going on and making my life complete." Pam clasped her hands in front of her, "Oh. My. Effing. God. Katie. It's great."
"That great, huh?"
"So great."
The conversation could get a little... inane at times. "Cut to the chase" was a phrase invented just for these two. They were pretty dramatic at times, which was a bit understandable given the inherit dreariness of office life. So what if they wanted to jazz things up a bit? They were good employees, and they deserved to have a little fun. It was their right to gossip, their duty!
Especially when Pam seemed this excited.
"So what's up, hun?" Katie asked, taking a sip of extra creamy coffee to wash down her bite of kruller, "You're not normally this jazzed."
"Well." Pam began, taking a swooping seat down into an empty office chair, rolling it over to her partner in crime, "Let me tell you..."
