It was a nice summer evening as Steven was headed home from work. He didn't particularly care though since he didn't really like going out. Other than work, Steven didn't really leave his flat much, except for mundane things like buying groceries. He was okay with that though. He enjoyed being alone. Although, his flat wasn't a place he had all to himself anymore, at least temporarily.
As he made his way home, Steven thought back to how this situation had come to be. One morning before work, Steven had entered the tea room, where a few of his co-workers were conversing. David, the American college student who was studying here in Rotherham for the semester, was talking about how even though the semester was about to end he was planning on staying through the end of the summer before he returned to the US for his next semester. It turned out that he wasn't allowed to keep staying in a dorm, however, since he was technically no longer a student at the local college, so he was looking for a place to stay for the summer.
"Steven's got a spare bedroom," Liz had said, spying him entering the room. The staff supervisor was a bit fond of David since he was such a good worker, and probably wanted to make sure he could still work at Wilko for the duration of the summer. And so she had volunteered Steven.
While reluctant at first, Liz had talked him into it. David had now been staying with him for a few days, and things had been going fine. David was out enjoying his time in England most of the time, so Steven still had his space, and they got along well enough when he was there. Steven had yet to discover that David was a bit of a pervert like he himself was, but that was probably going to change soon, since an interesting discovery was about to come into Steven's life...
As he was walking home, Steven happened upon a strange old man who handed him a weird remote. The man claimed it could swap people's body parts, clothes, and other physical traits, all without them noticing, unless they held the remote of course. Just as swiftly as he appeared, the man vanished. It seemed hard to believe, but somehow Steven believed it was true. He quickly headed home, curious to try it out.
"Oh, hey," David said when Steven returned. He was sitting on the couch watching TV. For a moment, Steven considered showing the young American the remote, but he wanted to take more time to decide, and maybe try the remote out first, just to see if it worked.
