"So, who are you? Are you gonna say anything or not?"
"I have to go." said Hajime, as he ran out of the hotel.
Hajime could hear Kazuichi's exasperated voice but he couldn't care less about what he was saying. He just wanted to get to the bottom of who was occupying his body.
Hajime looked all over the first island and couldn't find anyone. Upon entering the drug store in the second island he found his body hunched up in a corner.
Hajime walked up to his body and tried to be as threating as possible, but with Mikan's posture he wasn't able to pull off the desired effect.
As he walked closer he couldn't help but notice that his body was crying.
"Wait a minute." said Hajime "Are you...Mikan..?"
Hajime was really relieved. Until he realized that Mikan was a really clumsy person. She could easily draw atention to herself and who know what she'd pull off with his body.
On second thought, Hajime didn't know what to feel.
"Yes. *sniff* I'm Mikan. Are you Hajime?"
"Yes, I am."
Hajime had hinestly thought the switch would be a lot more randomized. He really hoped that that was the case with everyone else and by some miracle, Mikan and Hajime had only swapped with each other.
"C'mon, let's go back to the cottage. You really need to lie down, Mikan."
It took a while to support a half tired and depressed Mikan with Mikan's body, which was too weak to actually hold on to it for long periods of time. But they eventually reached the cottages. No one was in sight. Hajime wondered if everyone revealed their identities, or if no one did. He didn't know which alternative would be better.
Well, I guess we'll find out over breakfast tomorrow. I wonder if I should even go.
Mikan had now calmed down. She had stopped crying and was slowly coming to terms with the fact that her body was switched.
"Hajime", she said "what should we do now? I guess we're a team."
She's right. If all the swaps are randomized, I guess we are a team. We have to support each other and make sure our bodies remain unharmed.
"Well, for starters Mikan, I don't think we should reveal our identities to anyone. Unless everyone else has already done so. And we have to address each other with our corresponding body names. I'm now Mikan. You're now Hajime.
Damn, that last line really hurt to say. But we really have no choice. Fuck that bear. I'll do something about him if it's the last thing I do.
"waAHH really? do we have to do that? Not that I hate bring you or anything! I just.. Sorry, I'm so sorry that sounded so weird. You probably hatr me now."
"No! I don't hate you. This isn't your fault it's onky natural that you'd feel weird. And we only call each other our body assigned names only if the others haven't revealed their identities. I hate doing this as much as you do."
"Okay Hajime..I mean..Mikan."
"Also, try not to attract too much attention to yourself. When we go to breakfast tomorrow, just go to the corner and stay out of peoples' way. People might think that's suspicious but no one will think it's you."
"Alright, Haj..Mikan. Can we atleast call each other our normal names when we're together?"
"We really shouldn't be found together after this. People will find that suspicious, Mi..Hajime."
"Ah! I'm sorry for suggesting that then. Oh, also, be on the lookout for Hiyoko. She'll bully my body."
"Ah, that would be a good way to find out who she ended up as."
Hajime and Mikan spent a lot of time talking abiut their current predicament. They decided not to meet up like this again after tonight. Hajime left his cottage at 11PM and went to bed.
He woke up at 5AM with the sun directly shining in his face.
Damn, Mikan must be naturally unlucky. I feel bad for her. Waking up like this everyday sure is going to suck.. Well, I guess I can explore her room. It's way more...decorated than mine.
*cough* *cough* "How does she live with her hair like this? It's all over my face! It's even gotten in my mouth" muttered Hajime, as he pulled himself out of his bed. He wanted so badly to cut her hair, but he knew he'd just end up making it look worse than it already was.
"Well, I can just go to the restaurant. People'll turn up soon anyway."
The restaurant was unusually quiet. It felt way different when there was nobody there. But eventually, people started trickling in. Hajime found out that...
