***
Peace has finally returned to Inaba. One day, Teddie suddenly summoned the Investigation Team inside the TV...
"Laaaaadies and gentlemen! How are you all doing tonight, now that we can breathe easy? But enough small talk, now the moment you've all been waiting for... I'm your host..."
A single spotlight flickers to life, revealing your guest for the evening.
"'On the Mark' Teddieson! Nice to meet you all. Let's get this show on the road! With concentration, knowledge, and Teddie's favor, go for the gold! We call it...!"
The entire studio lights up with a wave of Teddie's hand, illuminating the stage amidst a sudden explosion of confetti.
"Midnight Macro Miracle Mayhem!"
(Patent pending.)
A chorus of trumpets and drums plays a jaunty tune from an unseen place. Yu alone stands amidst the row of contestant pedestals.
"Whaaaat!? Cut, cut, cut!"

Teddie ran down from their stand at the side of the stage, frowning at the lack of willing participants. "Senseeeeeeiiiiii! I thought you said you'd get a team together!"
Yu quietly gestured to the stands outside the stage, where an increasingly baffled Investigation Team was staring at the ridiculous display before them.
Yosuke scoffed. "That's what you brought us all here for? Some weird game show?"
"It's a game show?" Kanji asked. "Huh. I didn't get that from the funky name he used..."
Teddie growled. "Don't be so mean! Ever since we made the TV world all better, I found out about all sorts of fun powers I can use in here without that awful fog messing with my head, and I thought we should have a celebration for solving the case!"
Naoto raised her hand. "Yes, but I don't see the context of 'Midnight Macro Miracle Mayhem.' Is it a code of some kind...?"
"It's a really special kind of quiz, and it's just what the folks at home want, trust me!"
Chie panned her head around the stands. "Uh, who're you talkin' about?"
"Them!" Teddie gestured to you behind the screen.
The rest of the team looked around, seeing nothing but themselves sitting in the stands.
"Okay, Teddie's gone loopy, guys," Yosuke said, brushing his legs as he stood up to leave. "Come on, let's get outta here."
"W-Wait!" Teddie flopped at Yosuke's feet. "I put so much effort into this! You have no idea how long it took just to get the model city made!"
"'Model city'...?" Rise muttered, her curiosity peaked by the unusual choice in prop.
"Well, tough luck, Teddie!" Yosuke retorted. "You should have used all that energy for work."
A lightbulb appeared above Teddie's head. "I-If we have just one game, I'll do triple shifts at Junes next week!"
The prince of Junes squinted for a moment, trying to discern any lies in the smiling mascot's face, before sitting back down. "Fiiiine. But you better promise me you'll do them!"
"So, what's the objective of the game?" Yukiko asked her fabulous host.
"Oooooh, that's a secret, Yuki-chan!" Teddie winked. "You'll have to take to the podium if you want to find out!"
"Senpai seemed eager," Kanji muttered, nodding at the silver-haired boy, who had been waiting patiently at the first podium throughout this entire ordeal.
"Well, if it's a game of wits, then I suppose I can duel you for it, partner!" Yosuke, suddenly stoked at the chance to best Narukami for once, took to the second podium with newfound enthusiasm.
"I'd certainly like to find out what 'secrets' you have, Teddie," Yukiko said next, standing up and quietly walking over to the third stand.
"Y-Yuki-chan~" Teddie mumbled, a red haze over his furry cheeks.
"Woah woah woah, if Yukiko is up there, I'm going too!" Chie ran over to the fourth stand before anyone else could claim it (much to the pouting of Rise, who had only just realized Yukiko was now standing between her and Senpai.) "I'm not lettin' you needle her with pervy questions all night!"
Teddie's blush disappeared. "Oh, Chie-chan, you are so cruel!"
"I take it we are to observe?" Naoto asked, gesturing to herself, Kanji and Rise.
"Yep-yep!" Teddie answered, hopping back over to the stage. "Just sit back and enjoy the show!"
Yosuke leaned over to Yu. "Hey, partner, you got any idea what Teddie's got cooked up?"
Yu shrugged. "No, I'm still trying to figure out the name. 'Macro' means 'big', but that could mean anything."
Yosuke leaned back, suddenly feeling less confidant about his decision to participate.
"Now then, sorry for the intermission there, ladies and gentlemen!" Teddie spoke, his voice suddenly amplified by speakers out of sight. "Now for the folks at home, remember..." Teddie turns to face you again. "This is all a silly non-canon side story, and we're throwing time and space out the window with the kitchen sink, okay? If Lavenza suddenly walks on set, just grin and bear it for me!"
Kanji nudged Rise. "The hell's he talkin' about?"
Rise shrugged. "No idea."
Naoto continued to turn her head, trying to figure out which secret camera Teddie must be addressing.
"Alright, let's put these newfound TV-world-exclusive reality-warping superpowers to use!" Teddie proudly announced.
Yosuke suddenly felt a lot less confidant about his decision to participate. "Is it too late to back out or-"
"But first...!" Teddie rose his hand defiantly in the air. All of a sudden, an additional set of stands appeared on the stage, literally poofing into existence. Yukiko cheerfully applauded the clever magic trick, while Yosuke began to debate if Teddie has suddenly become this world's new god or something.
"I've got some surprise mystery guests, all the way from..." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
