"I think Ann-chan might be the best person to watch over you right now, Ryuji," Makoto said softly. "You two have been friends longer than any of us. Plus, Ann's parents should still be out of town, right? That means she doesn't have to worry about hiding you from them."
Ryuji sulked. While he would have preferred to be left with his mother, he reluctantly agreed with being taken care of by Ann. It couldn't have been too bad. Besides, if everything went well, he would be back to normal the next day after a quick trip to Mementos. "Fine, I guess. But can I call my mom? I don't want her to worry."
"Yeah, sure," Ann said, digging in her pocket for her phone.
----
Ryuji rode in Ann's baseball jacket, using the pocket as a hammock. He felt a bit tense, feeling terrible about the fact that he had lied to his mother. Well, lie was a strong word. He had just omitted the truth. All he told his mom was that he'd be sleeping over at a friend's house, which was one hundred percent true. However, he still felt bad about not disclosing his newfound size.
On the way home, Ann stopped by a Big Bang Burger, grabbing herself a quick bite to-go. With her shrunken friend and a meal in tow, Ann boarded the train to her home district. The walk was quick, and she made sure not to bump anyone, lest she inadvertently hurt her tiny friend. Entering her apartment, Ann carefully fished out Ryuji.
"We're here," she chirped. Gently she carried Ryuji towards the dining area, where she deposited him on the tabletop along with her meal. "I got us some food, too."
"Th-thanks," he said stiffly, still unused to the size difference between the two.
Ann casually unwrapped the meal, setting small chunks of her burger and fries for Ryuji. As she ate, she found herself staring at her shrunken friend. He seemed to be putting away an impressive amount of food for his size. She couldn't help but giggle at the comical sight of Ryuji covered in half melted cheese, which earned some self conscious grumbling from the tiny boy.
"Here, let me clean you up," Ann hummed. She licked her thumb before rubbing over Ryuji's entire body. As promised, she got every bit of cheese off his body. However, he was now coated in her spit, which seemed like it was worse as he now smelled of Ann's breath, which was a combination of beef and soda at the moment.
"What the eff was that for?!" Ryuji asked indignantly.
Ann only smiled. "S-sorry, I couldn't resist. There's just something about you at this size that makes me want to coddle you."
"W-well, cut that shit out!" he barked, his face red. "It's embarrassing."
Paying his comments not mind, Ann stood up, inadvertently reminding him of her power advantage. He suddenly felt the need to keep quiet as Ann began to throw away the trash. After she was done, she carefully scooped Ryuji into her hands and carried him into her bedroom. She set him on her pillow, on the rather large bed. She then disappeared with a set of sleepwear in tow, disappearing into a walk in closet.
Alone, Ryuji contemplated his situation. He was at most an inch tall and staying the night in one of his best friend's home. So far, things were okay, which he was thankful for. He wasn't sure if he could deal with anything stressful on top of his affliction. It then dawned on him that Ann stayed in the apartment completely alone.
Seconds after his realization, Ann returned, dressed in a tank top and pajama pants. Her hair was tied up into a manageable bun. The giant girl made her way over to the bed and lay down, being careful not to shake the bed all too much. She slid under the covers, and turned off the light.
The two tried their best to sleep. However, the strange set of circumstances kept them from really getting any sleep. It didn’t take long for Ryuji to break the silence.
“Hey Ann,” Ryuji called. “You live here alone, right?”
The model hummed in response. “My parents are overseas all the time. Just this year, they finally trust me to live on my own without any caretakers.”
Ryuji sighed. “Doesn’t that get kind of lonely? I know I couldn’t handle it.”
“It does,” she said plainly. “But that’s what I have you and the others for.”
“Right…” Ryuji responded, trailing off.
The two talked idly until Ann suddenly passed ut in the middle of their conversation. Ryuji didn’t bother to wake her up, figuring that she earned a night of sleep. He chuckled to himself, realizing that he could tell Akira and the others that he had slept with Ann and not be a liar. Of course, he was omitting the truth, but he wouldn’t tell the others that unless he had to.
He lay awake on the pillow with an uneasy feeling in his stomach as he finally gave in to exhaustion.
