You frowned, hearing that and turned to find dad standing a few steps away with his hands passively behind his back, an odd grin on his face.
"I'm here to answer your question, dear boy." Smiling, dad said. "I have demanding responsibilities that keep me away from home but I assure you, I am always watching over the family."
"What is it that you do, exactly?" Firmly, Joe demanded.
Dad smiled, though kindly. "I am more than willing to show you, Joe." Calmly, he said. He then motioned to you. "However, Gina approached you first; the gentleman code demands that I allow her to make the first offer."
"First offer...?" Taken aback, Joe asked.
"To tell, or rather, show you what I had been doing the year I was away." Serious, you replied. "There is more to your world than you might imagine."
"Quite correct." Calmly, dad said. "The choice is yours, Joe. Who do you want answers from first?"
Joe turned from you to dad then back to you. "I'd like to get answers from both of you, to be honest." Wincing, he said.
"Understandable." Softly, dad said. "However, the answers are rather involved so you must choose who to ask first."
Joe sighed then made his decision. "I first want answers from..."
