constantly babbling nonsense.

You sighed seeing Thomas sitting against the tree in a sort of a daze, babbling like a complete drunken idiot. "How long as he been like this?" Suspecting magic, you asked.

"Ever since I met him after school." Frowning, Joe replied. "The principal asked me to take a letter to Lydia Rune at her student council meeting but she also wanted to talk to me."

You again sighed, shaking your head. "I'm guessing Thomas offered to take it for you." Softly, you said. "What did the principal want with you?"

"Something about not trusting the new gym and salon in the mall." Shrugging, Joe replied. "She told me that she had heard a lot of complaints about both places and seemed to know just how crazy protective dad was of us."

You nodded then turned to Thomas. "Poor guy must have been hit with an incoherence spell." Shaking your head, you thought. "It's easy to fix but why did Lydia cast it on him? He knows nothing about magic. Also, what's with the lump on the back of his head? Did someone hit him... It doesn't make sense."

Deciding to play it safe, for now, you placed a hand onto his head as if you examine him and cast the proper spell to cancel the magical effect on him. Thomas fell limp for a moment then shook his head before looking at you. "That... was... weird." Stammering, he muttered. "I... feel.... like..."

"Don't try to talk right now." Serious, you said. "You took a blow to the head."

"What?!" Startled, Joe demanded. "I didn't notice any..."

He paused as you showed him a lump on the back of Thomas' head. "It looks like someone blindsided him, bro." Softly, you said. "A good whack on the head will make anyone talk in a drunken stupor for a while."

Joe grunted, angry that his friend had been hurt. "I'll find out who did this." Through gritted teeth, he hissed. "Someone just messed with the wrong family."

"Let mom and dad handle this one, Joe." Serious, you warned. "Revenge is a fool's game."

"Do you think I was being set up?" Worried, Joe asked.

You shook your head. "If that was the case, the principal would not have allowed Thomas to deliver the letter." Softly, you replied. "I'm thinking Thomas walked in on something he shouldn't and got knocked out cold before he saw too much."

With that said, you helped Joe take Thomas home then escorted him home where mom was waiting with dad standing behind her. "Was it anything serious?" Wincing, mom asked.

You were about to answer only Joe cut in. "Dad, there's something weird going on at school and I'm afraid Thomas got clobbered upon stumbling upon it." Serious, he said. "He took a letter to Lydia Rune I was asked to take by the principal because she also wanted to talk to me."

Dad grunted then replied...
