Although you hated to do it, you felt that the last thing Joe needed was dad's lack of bedside manner so you ended the call. "Oops." Frowning, you muttered. "I guess we got disconnected."
Knowing dad would be annoyed, you hurried to a private spot and teleported to a lone tree in a clearing surrounded by woods. The small forest belonged to mom's family for generations. The lone tree stood on top of a high hill over looking the town. It was where Joe ran to when he felt the need to be alone. Upon arriving, you found Joe sitting at the base of the tree, looking out at the small town in the short distance.
"Do you mind if I join you?" Startling him, you asked.
Joe spun around and gave a slight smile seeing you. he then gave a short nod and you walked up, sitting down at his side. "It's peaceful up here." Softly, Joe said. "I could spend all day just watching the clouds go by and forget the madness of the world below."
"It is peaceful." Smiling, you agreed. "I missed coming up here."
"Dad told me that you, mom, and the twins are all witches." Flatly, Joe commented. "He also told me that he's some kind of super scientist." He scoffed. "As if he were a comic book superhero or something."
"You didn't believe him?" Worried, you asked.
"He showed me some proof." Frowning, Joe said. "Only he wanted me to make a decision right then and there!" He threw a fist onto the ground. "Some scientist he is! Any scientist worthy of his or her diploma knows that no one can make such a life changing decision based only upon one's word and a minor display!"
You sighed, frustrated with dad. "So you ran here to think things through."
Joe nodded. "It's a lot to take in, Gina." Shaken, he said. "Just wrapping my head around it all is going to take time, let alone decide if I want to become a girl and learn magic or stay a boy and learn this chaotic science."
"Dad should have had mom with him when he talked to you." Serious, you said. "Are you willing to talk to her, since dad already tried?"
Joe shrugged. "I don't know." Honestly, he said. "Right now, I'm not too sure about anything..."
