Anya is the current ruler of the Meshcheri, a people who once stood at the cusp of uniting all the Russ under a single banner. However, the difficult reign of her father, Nickolai the Bewitched, has seen the former masters of the Tuchnyy reduced to a mere shadow of their former glory.
Her reign is off to a difficult start, as well. Her elder brother, Sergei, had slain his two elder siblings to claim the Princedom for himself. Anya was successful in overthrowing the snake, and he is now imprisoned in her dungeon. However, Sergei still has supporters among those who see him as an easily manipulated puppet, and others doubt Anya's capabilities as Prince. The road ahead of her promises to be long indeed...
