Chapter #4

Tour of the Underground and a hard truth.

    by: Unknown
Through the Underground you and Asriel traveled, climbing on a boat, which was steered by a mysterious, hooded figure ("Tra la la la!" he sang, but then stopped and said, "A human? Well, that's something I haven't seen before, though a change of cargo ones and a while is good.")

After that, you arrived at a frozen wonderland, where Asriel introduced you to many friends of his and residence of Snowden. Though, you struggled to concentrate, for it was freezing, but the goat boy didn't seem to mind the cold.

But the place Asriel took you next made you long for the low temperatures. After riding an elevator, you arrived at a place called the Hotlands, where it was very hot.

But Asriel was kind enough to buy you some ice cream called Nice cream from a nearby stand, which you ate, and it was nice.

After traveling around in Hotlands for a while, you asked the goat boy where he was going, and he said, "To Alphys' house. She's one of my aunts and my family's royal scientist. She's a little bit of an introvert, but she's pretty sweet ones you get to know her. Alphys has this crazy obsession with these cartoons, but when I call them a cartoon she gets upset and insists that it's called Anime. To me, they'te still a bunch of cartoon. Anyway, she also likes humans, so I think she would really like to see you."

What Asriel told you about Alphys sounded very good, and you did want to meet her, but, unfortunately, when you arrived at her home, you saw that there was a notice on the door, which read, "Off to a Anime convention. Will be back later. P.S. there not cartoons! :("

"Well this sucks," said Asriel after he read the note, "I guess we have to come back later, then."

You were disappointed, but you and Asriel pressed onwards. You arrived at a place where it rained a lot, and the goat boy pulled out an umbrella from a conveniently placed umbrella stand.

"There free," he said, "but, unfortunately, we can only use one, so we have to share. My dad really needs to change these rules. They're kinda outdated."

After passing through the rain, you and Asriel arrived at a landscape where many rivers were running. Some had bridges you could used to cross them, but others you had to swim through, but luckily the waters were only waist deep.

As you walked, you noticed a few well-concealed pathways branches from the main path.

When you asked Asriel about them, he said, "The Temmies live town there in Temmie Town. They have very deep history."

When you asked about the history, Asriel shrugged and said, "Dunno. In fact, no one does. We should ask them some time."

Soon you arrived at another elevator, and it took you and Asriel to your destination. The monsters' city lay before you, and you followed the goat boy, walking down a long road.

When you asked what the city's name was, Asriel said, "It's called New Home. Great name, I know, but my dad isn't very creative when it comes to naming things. If you asked me, I would've called it Happy monster town or Pixel city."

There was no sarcasm in his voice, so you concluded that the goat boy, like his father, wasn't very creative when it came to naming things either. You arrived at a large house, and you and Asriel went inside.

"Welcome to my home," said the goat boy.

And when the sweet scent of something baking reached him, he continued, "And I think my mom's cooking up some of that wonderful pies I told you about. Let's go introduce you to her."

You turned left and went to the kitchen, where Toriel, indeed, was busy baking several pies, and another burly monster, which you guessed was Asriel's father, was sitting at the table.

"Hey, mom and dad, I made a new friend that I'd like you to meet," announced Asriel.

There reaction wasn't like you expected, which made you glad. They were surprised, as if their son had brought home a surreal but beautiful piece of art, but they calmed down and Toriel was the first to speak.

"Well, that's nice, my child," she said to Asriel, and to you she said, "Please, tell us your name and how on earth did you get down here?"

Toriel's kind attitude and the motherly tone she used to speak to you made you trust her quickly, and you told her your name and how you accidentally fell down a hole into the Underground.

"How dreadful," said Toriel.

You asked them if there perhaps was a way out, and Asgore answered by saying, "I'm sorry, but the magical barrier keeps us all down here, at least until the prophecy is fulfilled. I'm afraid you're stuck here like the rest of us, but don't fret, we will take you in a raise you like our own."

You were dismayed at what Asgore told you, but you still believed that there had to be a way out. There must be...

"Pushing that bleak note aside," said Toriel, "Who wants some freshly baked cinnamon and butterscotch pie?"

On cue, Asriel's belly began to rumble, and he cried, "I do! I do!"

You were a little hungry too, and you agreed to have slice as well. After eating two slices, you were full, but Asriel, to your surprise, managed to eat two whole pies and still wanted more.

Afterwards, it was off to bed in a cozy room that you shared with Asriel. But long after everyone went to sleep, you lay awake for very long in bed, thinking of way out the Underground, for you didn't belong there...and neither did any of these monsters. They were so kind and friendly. Why seal them down here?

What plan did you come up with?

Choice 1: you remembered what Asgore said about a prophecy and ask Asriel about it the following morning. You discovered that it involves someone growing to a ridiculous size through some means.

Choice 2: you remembered Alphys and how Asriel said that she was the royal scientist. If she was as smart as he said, perhaps she could find a way out of the Underground.

A little magic versus science could have been all what the monsters needed to break the barrier.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Ask Asriel about the prophecy.

*Noteb*
2. Seek Alphys' help.

*Noteb*
3. Frisk has another idea.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
