Kim thought about it for a moment. She knew that her friends were going to go out for their monthly dinner date tonight and really didn't want to go. She had thought about telling them that she wanted to take a month off and catch up on the reading that she'd been putting off the last week. This would help her from paying the 'forfeit tax', this was something that she put in place when Leah couldn't come for 2 months straight. Kim told the group that if somebody wasn't able to come to the monthly dinner date, then they will need to pay for the next group's night out. Everyone agreed to this rule and Leah had to pay a couple times and Ashley had to pay once. The ladies tended to go a little overboard during these dinners when somebody else was paying. "Actually, I think we can switch back tomorrow." Kim decided.
Not knowing what to do, Josh just laughed. "You can't be kidding, I can't have a bunch of older women as friends and you can't have a bunch of teenagers as friends." He pointed this out to her which didn't cause her to flinch.
"I don't know why you're complaining. I just want you to go to the Dinner Date tonight and I will even give you the credit card so that you can pay for your part of the dinner." She replied to her son, who seemed to not like the idea of having dinner with a group of older women, including a couple of his teachers.
Thinking about it a little more, he still didn't like the idea, but going out for dinner instead of eating with his family started to sound more appetizing. "Fine, but as long as I can get a new game." He announced to Kim clapping excitedly.
Kim nodded her head agreeing to his terms. "I think Leah will be here in about 20 minutes to pick you up." She replied as she quickly made her way down stairs to get her card that she promised Josh. She was in such a hurry that she left the basket of clothes on his bed. It only took a couple minutes before she came running back up the stairs with her credit card. "Thank you so much for this, honey. I didn't really want to go and certainly didn't want to pay for the group next time." She gave Josh the credit card and thanked him again while she picked up the basket of clothes and left the room.
Josh looked at the card, smiled, and put it in his wallet. Remembering that he still had some time, Josh decided to change into something more worthy of the dinner date. Choosing a pair of khakis and a decent polo, something that he would wear to get a picture taken or go to church.
