You shake your head, a bit confused. You needed a pair of socks, why did you grab a dress?
You must be more tired than you thought.
As you go to put the dress back, something falls out of it. It takes you a second to figure out what it is, mostly due to your eyes being assaulted by the most glittery neon pink color you've ever seen.
It is a pair of Briana's stretchy knee-high socks. They are absolutely covered in cartoon animals and glittery stars. If there were any chance you might get caught wearing them, you would die... but no one's home and you really need a warm pair of socks right now.
Saying a quick apology in your head to Briana for stretching them out, you quickly pull them over your feet. While knee-high to a ten year old, they look more like a pair of crew socks on you. A warm tingling sensation spreads over your feet, though you attribute that to having just pulled the socks out of the dryer.
You finish loading the current load of laundry and begin your other chores while the load runs, all the while totally oblivious to the changes the socks are imposing on you.
You trip several times while doing the vacuuming, though you never suspect that it is due to your feet being over an inch shorter. You also have to stretch just a little bit further while putting the freshly washed dishes on the top shelf, though you justify it to yourself as the shelf being a bit overloaded.
Your chores finally done, you grab a bag of chips and some dip, plopping on the couch to catch some TV.
The socks, having long since finished their work on your feet, have started on your legs. The slight wispy hair on your legs is gone, replaced with the smooth skin of a child. Your legs also shorten, though the change is slow and you've so far only lost two inches of height.
Hidden under your jeans, however, you don't notice any of the changes. Or maybe you were distracted by the show you were watching. Either way, you might have just sat there, remaining totally oblivious as your legs transformed to those of your little sister, but...
