Randy sat at his desk, pouring through exhaustive Pokemon lore just as he had many nights before. He had ventured on brief Pokemon adventures once or twice, but ultimately, he decided the life of a trainer simply wasn’t for him. Thus, he’s since stayed home and pursued education to hopefully, one day, become a Pokemon professor. While he was passionate about Pokemon, the prospect of wandering the world and collecting badges was just stressful for him… he much preferred to relax and study Pokemon from the comfort of his own home.
As he sat there, enveloped in what he was reading on his computer screen, he was suddenly roused from his trance by the sensation of something poking him in the leg with its snout. He turned, to see his beloved ninetales sitting at his feet. He had first obtained her when he was but a lad, and she a vulpix, and the two of them grew up together, forming an unbreakable bond. They were almost like family, in their own way. “Hey there, girl!” He smiled, reaching down and giving her a little scratch on the side of her neck. She purred, leaning her head into his hand.
Quickly, he noticed she was acting weird, however. There seemed to be dirt tracking on her paws, and she seemed eager, as if she was trying to get his attention. “Oh? Is there something you want to show me, girl?” She nodded, a smile dawning on her face. They knew eachother so well by now, they were able to understand eachother easily despite the language gap. Randy chuckled as he got up off his chair, following the eager ninetales downstairs. The ninetales had a little collar around her neck that kept her from being stolen by other trainers, so Randy often let her wander outside by herself, and occasionally, she’d find something interesting on the nearby routes.
Randy followed diligently as the ninetales led him surprisingly deep into the forest, sniffing the ground as if tracking something’s scent. Eventually, she sat down next to a little hole she dug in the ground. “Hm? What’s this?” Randy raises a brow, sitting on his knees as he inspects the hole. Lying still half-buried in the dirt is what looks to be a beautiful, ornate jewelry box, made of what seems to be ancient materials. “Whoa! This looks some kind of artifact!” He gasped, surprised at the ninetale’s find. He analyzed the box, jiggling it around and hearing something small jostle inside. He looked at the ninetales with an eager smile. “Wanna see what’s inside?”
Of course, the ninetales nodded, and soon, both of them were lying on the ground, letting the suspense build as Randy slowly unlocks the ancient little box. They hold their breath as he slowly slides it open, to reveal… “A ring!?” Randy reacted, a little surprised. He pulled an old-fashioned little metal ring out of the box, seeing that its covered in little carvings and completed with a beautiful green gemstone. Despite its beauty, he couldn’t help but be a little disappointed. “Huh. I… guess I don’t know what I expected. Well, I might as well try this thing on, right?”
He sits up, and without another moment’s hesitation, slips the ring around his index finger. He holds his hand in front of his face, admiring the ring as the gemstone reflects beautiful little rays of sunlight. “You know, this thing’s actually kinda pretty! I wonder if it’s worth anything…” He said. Little did he notice that as he spoke, his ninetales was undergoing a strange transformation.
You see, the little ring he had just put on was cursed! Now, any Pokémon nearby Randy would instantly be made...
