This choice: You are ambushed by bandits on your way... but a monster girl saves you! • Go Back...Chapter #4Saved by a monster girl! by: DB7557 As you travel on a forest route, thinking about whether you made the right decision to look for that village, you are suddenly startled by a rustling sounds coming from the bushes! You look around nervously, and a bandit, human one suddenly jumps out of it!
You instinctively reach for your weapon, but the bandit just wags his finger at you.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you girlie." He says walking towards you"I've got 5 of my people in the bushes and on the trees behind you, just waitin' to shoot and stab you in the back the second you try anythin' funny."
"Just let me pass! I am on a quest to destroy Monster Empire!" You say, annoyed, trying not to show any fear
"Ain't we all? We humans gotta help each other with that! You "donate" to us everything you've got, and in exchange you can pass and continue your own quest, while we continue our own!" Said the man
Just as he finished saying that, you heard some yelling and commotion coming from behind you. Which made you turn around... there were 3 people, two women and one man there, but they were all lying unconscious or otherwise incapacitated on the road. A moment later, two more men seemingly fell down from trees above, also on the road.
"W-what the hell is goin' on?!" Said the bandit leader
"Nothing personal, I just got paid to capture you scum." You heard a voice and just as you turned back towards the leader, you've seen him struck with a blunt part of a giant axe. The surprising part however was that the enormous weapon was held by a kitsune! Not only a monster girl, but also of the type more known from their magic prowess rather than melee combat skills.
Just as the unconscious leader fell onto the floor, the kitsune all of a sudden started approaching you herself. You were afraid for a moment she mistook you for one of the bandits, or just wanted to attack you to for being human, but the kitsune... who turned out to be surprisingly a bit taller than you, just took a closer look at you before sheathing her giant axe on her back.
"You don't seem like one of them... treat that rescue as a freebie then I guess. I already got paid from nearby village's chief for capturing this bunch anyway." She said
"Thanks a lot for the help!" You finally say, relieved that she didn't decide
"Help? I didn't plan to do that, so just forget about it. I don't want people around here to think I'm doing mercenary work for free." Said the kitsune, revealing herself to be a mercenary of some sort, as she started gathering all the bandits in one place, and tying them up with some rope
"Can you tell me where can I find Hayato village?" You decided to ask, just to make sure you were going right way to your destination
"Oh, those guys? You go that way and by the evening you should reach it. We have a bit of a bandit problem here recently, so hope you will be prepared for more guys like those, because I'm not gonna save you again without a payment." Said the kitsune, she seemed completely unbothered about any kind of monsters vs humans issues.
"Oh... why are there so many?" You asked
"Hell if I know, but the bussiness is good thanks to that, so I can't complain." Said the kitsune, despite her kinda cold exterior and money-focused mind, she didn't seem like a bad person to you... surprising given her race
"So... how much would protecting me until the Hayato village cost?" You ask reluctantly, knowing you are nowhere near ready to find multiple enemies in ambushes like that
"Oh? Well, it's pretty far, for entire day, and you would have to cover expenses of me getting a room at Hayato inn... 300 coins." Said the mercenary kitsune
You didn't have the necessary amount of money with you... but was travel alone really a good idea?
"Name's Kuroga by the way." Said the mercenary, still waiting for you answer
indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
