"I think I ought to keep an eye on Jack and Mary", you said.
"Uh, are you sure?", Tina asked. "Didn't we plan this to get some time to relax? You know, let the kids have their fun while we just chill out?"
"Yeah, Trish", Barbara said. "And why'd you put on so much perfume? If I didn't know better, I'd say you were trying to cover-" Barbara suddenly smirked as you blushed a bit, your friend quickly figuring out your dilemma. "*sigh* Come on, Tina, let's go find Selena's little friend then grab a drink."
"Wait, cover what?", Tina asked as the two women walked away, with your daughter skipping happily behind them.
You let out a sigh of relief as your friends head off. You turn around and manage to catch Mary and Jack just before they head off. "Kids, wait up!", you call out as you run over to them.
"Huh? What is it Miss Harper?", Mary asked.
"I'm going to be joining you for today", you said.
"How come?", Jack asked, a bit of obvious annoyance in his voice.
"Because I think it'll be safer if you have someone else looking after you", you lied.
"Um, I think Jackie will be plenty safe with me", Mary said.
"I'm sure he will", you said, "but I think it's best if we don't take any chances." Both of them groaned as you took them by the hand. "So, where do you kids want to go to first?", you ask.
"Why are you asking us, mom?", Jack asked.
"I'm just here to keep an eye out on you two", you said. "I promise I won't get in the way of your fun."
