Chapter #4

Curse of the Coyote

    by: Unknown
The story starts in a museum where there are several treasures on display, found in North and South America. One particular artifact that stood out was a bright turquoise statue of a coyote. It was after closing time at the moment and the lights went out. The statue shined even in the darkness and all security cameras in the museum were turned on in the event that a would-be thief would attempt to break in and steal the artifact on display. A lone security guard is ever vigilant, keeping his eyes out as he looks at the screens. However, even the most diligent guards are not perfect and as soon as the clock strikes midnight, the ever vigilant but also ever so tired guard falls asleep on his chair.

This was the moment you were looking for as you cut open the window to enter the museum and walk through the hallway. You were what most people would call, a thief and you knew somebody who had a collection of rare and not to mention, stolen antiques that they had hidden away and would pay through the nose to expand. “It doesn’t get any easier than this,” you say to yourself with a snicker. “This stinking museum only has one guard. I’ll be in and out and nobody will be the wiser.”

As you walk in, you take out a black sharpie to draw on the security cameras so as not to be detected in case the guard woke up. You walk in where they keep the turquoise and begin to fill your thief bag with as much treasure as you can carry.

“With all this loot on display,” you think to yourself as you go on your greedy way. “There’s bound to be something here my employer will want for their collection. Besides, if they don’t like it, I could always sell it to the black market.” You take great pride in your work and feel like nothing can stop you. It is at that exact moment that you see an even more valuable looking prize; namely the turquoise coyote statue in the center of the room. “Ooh,” you say. “I’ll bet that thing is the most valuable of them all. They’ll surely like that.”

You’re about to make a move when you suddenly stop and then use an aerosol to reveal the bright red laser lights that were protecting the coyote statue. “Huh,” you scoff. “Don’t they ever learn.” You take out several mirrors and position them specifically to redirect the lights. Once all the lasers were dealt with, you whistle and calmly walk up to the case. You take out your glass cutters again and then you slice your way through the glass case. “Come to Papa.” You say as you reach in and grab the coyote statue. However, some ancient treasures can often come with a curse, usually of the costly variety. The moment you grab the coyote, in a flash, you disappear, leaving your stolen loot behind.

The next thing you know, you are in some strange painted desert with sands coming in bright shades of red, brown, yellow and blue with a bright purple sky overhead and what looks like a moon that had eyes and blinked as it hovered in the air. You see jagged cactuses that looked like somebody painted them and then blinked. “What happened?” you ask. “I had the statue! What’s going?!” As you’re ranting, a large shadow is cast upon you and you turn and look in fright. Standing in front of you was an enormous and chubby-looking anthropomorphic coyote woman with dark turquoise blue fur with red and yellow highlights on both her hips and her neck. She had long silver hair and she smirked down at you with sharp teeth.

“Oh good,” says the coyote giantess to you. “You’re here already. I was expecting you later. Oh well, can’t complain. Now, you can start by pulling cactuses out of my fur.” As you stare at the coyote giantess dumbfounded, she turned around and holds down her tail to show a sea of those strange cacti, no doubt stuck in her fur when she was walking through the desert. You definitely stole from the wrong museum.
