"Mom! Mouse! Has my copy of "Knots and the Modern Detective" arrived yet?" Summer Salt shouted as she was coming down the stairs for breakfast.
"Summer Salt, come into the kitchen, we need to introduce you to someone!" was her mother's reply that came.

"Hullo" Smiley said with a full mouth. Summer did the kind of backflip that she got her name after.
"That's a Clown Girl! Probably sent by the Clown Prince to infiltrate our home!"
"No!" Mouse protested. "She's my friend!"
"She tickled you to half to death in the Mansion!"
"Well...Yeah, but she didn't mean to."
"You and I are going to talk about this "mansion" and staying out after curfew later." her mother warned.
"Right now though, I want you to escort this girl and help her on her first school day."
"This...THING is going to come to school with us?"
"Don't call her that!" Mouse snapped.
"Oh yes, all the paperwork is already arranged. It is not right for a girl of your age to wander outside and miss out on her education."
Summer nodded. It was perfectly normal that Hollering High & Elementary would admit a new student with no means of identification and a likely history of insanity in the middle of the school year.
It is how fictional schools operate everywhere.
"Look, er...Smiley, right?" Summer asked doubtfully as they were walking to school later. "I doubt it's a good idea to start with listening to the teacher's lessons first." Either she'll say something embarassing or fall asleep, she concluded. "What we need to do first is to reintegrate you into society."
"Reintel-what?" Mouse asked. Whatever it was, it sounded painful.
"Reintegrate." Summer repeated mercilessly.
"We have to have you talk to people, to get a feel of how things are done out here."
