This choice: Clean Pajamas—Alice was gonna have a much needed lazy day! • Go Back... If she was being honest—completely honest with herself...
Alice had been looking forward to this day for quite a while.
Ever since they had agreed to move halfway across the country, Alice had slowly become more than a little exhausted. All the packing, the unpacking, hauling everything in a uhaul, spending hours crammed in a tiny vehicle; that didn't even begin to describe all their running around once they got here. No matter how much she moved around in her young life, Alice would still never get over how exhausting it all was!
It had been a lot of fun spending so much time with Zack, but she was more than a little grateful that she would be having this day for herself!
"Hey babe, I'm heading out." Zack said as he grabbed his keys, leaning over to give Alice a quick smooch, "You gonna be alright while I'm gone?"
Alice, in her too-big t-shirt and floppy pajama bottoms, her long blonde hair pulled back and her little feet bare, looked pretty much the picture of comfort. She stood with her hands behind her back, seeing Zack off at the door.
"Ooooh..." Alice said with an innocent rocking on the balls of her feet, a small spreading across her face, "I think I'll manage."
"Well don't manage too well without me." Zack said with a little hug, "We moved across the country together—the last thing I want is for you to realize you're perfectly capable of taking care of yourself."
"I promise to perform at or near expectations." Alice said with a giggle, "But not exceed them."
"Aww, just to make me feel better?"
"Just to make you feel better."
The two lovebirds shared a more intimate kiss than before, with Alice wrapping her arms around Zack's waist. As they stood there in the door, Zack allowed it to close slightly before they parted, a smile on his face.
"It's gonna be weird being apart for the first time in..." his blue eyes looked to the side, "God, feels like forever."
"It will..." Alice answered, her smile more girlish. He wasn't usually this clingy! It was kinda cute! "But you're gonna be late for work, sweetie."
"Yeah yeah." he checked his phone, "Have fun while I'm gone, babe."
Alice waited until the door was shut. She counted the footsteps with a growing excitement, waiting until Zack was just out of earshot to practically launch herself onto the couch! She landed with such force that she bounced on the springs, her feet kicked up as she lay splayed out on the couch—
Finally, a little She-time!
***
"Uuuugh...."
Alice lulled her head back on the couch. She-time was hard.
What exactly was there to do that she couldn't do from the comfort of her own bed? She didn't want to do school stuff, even if she kinda needed to. Alice had spent alternating hours cooped up in moving trucks or crammed in a tiny hotel room for the past few weeks. Now that she and Zack finally had her own place, and this would be one of her last chances to get in some time as a lazy millenial before school started, it was important... no, it was damn near necessary for her to find something that she would enjoy doing!
But what?
Zack had his XBox plugged up and running. But Alice wasn't really one of those... gamer girls. Video games were confusing. And besides, Zack might get mad if she accidentally messed something up...
There was always the internet. That was a sure-fire way to waste the day away, even if it didn't sound particularly productive.
Alice had the TV on, but it was just on the news. Maybe she could find something that she wanted to watch?
Ooh, maybe breakfast? It was a little late, but surely somewhere had some food to snack on...?
What to do, what to do...? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
