Mary was sitting at her computer desk watching the latest episode of one her favorite animes when there was on her bedroom door.
"Who is it?" Mary asked as she paused the episode feeling annoyed.
"It's me...." A familar voice said as her mother Kate entered.
While Mary never hated her mother she never felt that close to her either. Maybe there was some lingering resentment to how they looked. Kate was a gorgeous woman especially for age. Long blonde hair, curvy figure, perky bust, etc. worst of all she wasn't afraid to show off her body which made parent/teacher nights really awkward for Mary. Especially when boys at her school were always lusting after her.
However the secret resentment Mary seemed to feel towards her mom perhaps came from the fact that she was secretly jealous. Mary seemed to have inherited none of her mom's beauty. Mary was stick, barely over 100lbs, she had light brown hair like her father which was cut short because she hated messing with long hair. She also wore glasses like her dad which she hated but refused to wear contacts. She had barely developed any breasts even though she was almost 15. Almost all the girls at school teased her about looking like a boy.
At Kate entered her daughters room she was wearing a skin red mini dress with her white lab coat over it. She also had on a pair of three inch heels to compliment them.
"You look nice going somewhere?" Mary asked
"Yes your father and I are attending a science award ceremony tonight. I should be receiving an award for my latest research in genetic manipulation." Kate said proudly
"Well awesome.....good for you....anything else?" Mary said a bit angry now she wasn't even asked to go. Mary loved science just like her mom and even hoped one day to be a scientist like her.
"Yes well....Its just that it is Friday night and I hate to see you locked in your room like this. Why don't you go out with your friends?" Kate said.
"That would require that I had friends.....Sorry I'm not the outgoing beauty of a daughter you wanted...." Mary said frustrated as she turned around.
Kate let out a deep sigh and placed a cup of liquid by her daughter.
"Here....I made your favorite tea. I hope you know that I'm proud of you still, I just want you to have the confidence to go out and live a fun and normal life." Kate said.
"Thanks mom....have fun at your party....." Mary said turning around.
After Kate left Mary went back to watching her show as she took a sip of her tea trying to forget about the awkward conversation she just had....
