The next morning, Josh and and his mom got on their hiking boots and followed a trail up the mountains, one that was wide and easy to follow back in case the got lost. It even had several signs along the way pointing the way back.
But Josh's mom wasn't the most fit, being so plump, and he had to wait for her every now and then when she was out if breath.
Halfway up, she was sweating had had to rest again, Josh waiting again, his patience growing thin.
As she sat there on a log, her eyes spotted something glinting between the leaves. She bent down and picked it up.
"Josh!" she called.
"What!" he shouted back, frustrated.
"Look at what I found," Olivia said, " You might find it interesting."
He groaned, not expecting much, but he realized that he was wrong. In his mother's hand he saw a figure similar to a Venus figure, but it was carved out of what made to be metal, glinting in the sun.
"Isn't it odd?" she said, "It looks pretty. I think I should keep it."
Josh shrugged, ignoring the weird, ominous feeling that seemed to emanate from the figure, and said, "Sure. By the way, do you still want to reach the summit of the mountain? You look pretty tired."
Olivia looked up at the steep road they still had to climb and felt her will train away.
She shook her head. "No," she said, "I think we should head back."
As they made their way back, Olivia stuffed the idol into her pocket, and for a few moments it glowed, the illumination visible underneath her pants, but they did not notice this at all.
