Bruce sat in his cage at the dog shelter, he so wanted to be adopted, every person that passed by he bounded up to the cage door and wagged his tail but they all made a bee line for the cage of pups at the end off the row, no one wanted the 3 year old slightly chubby yellow lab.
Until one day a handsome young chap in his early 20s walked in. The guy peered in some of the doors but then spotted Bruce and headed straight over.
“Hello boy” the man said gently reaching out to scratch Bruce’s favourite spot behind his ears. “Aren’t you handsome”. “He’s had all his shots and stuff” said the bored young girl behind the counter. “You wanna be careful with that one” she said “eats like a horse and never seems to be full”. “Really” the man said a grin splitting his face, “that’s no problem, I am part of some excellent forums about dog nutrition” he said his hand dropping to scratch Bruce’s belly “all my previous dogs have had excellent diets”.
He quickly signed all the necessary papers and lead Bruce out to his waiting truck. “Hop in boy” he said, Bruce did so and found the passenger seat to have a massive impression in it as though something extremely heavy had been sat there frequently. Bruce payed it no mind, curling up and resting his head in his new owners lap. “I’m John” the man said, “you’re gonna love living with me” he chuckled as he drove them home.
The drive was long and Bruce fell asleep. When he woke they were pulling in to the drive of a lovely little house surrounded by woods. “Welcome home Bruce” John murmured affectionately petting the dogs head.
John walked off to open the front door Bruce following just behind. As Bruce pocked his head in the door he noticed.
