The deer looked around once more. He had never seen a structure built by humans before. The tall home was surrounded by lawn on all sides, but beyond that were more trees. The house seemed to be decently isolated from most of society. In this backyard there was an apple tree with several ripe apples laying on the ground. The deer trotted over and munched on one, then another, as he was quite hungry.
Then the deer's ears perked up and he looked over to see a young human. The human boy was staring right back at the deer from a porch. He was about 10 years old, and was smiling, leaning over the railing. The two locked eyes for a minute. The boy held his breath, hoping not to scare the deer away. He then turned and hurried inside his dwelling. The deer continued to enjoy the apples.
Moments later, out from the back door of the house came...
