Peter's birth was a secret to the world. When his mother became pregnant and didn't have means to take care of the child, she was approached by his father, Dr. Henry Klein, a distant relative. He took her in and kept her away from the rest of the world for nine months, all the while he took care of her every need. Nine months passed, and the woman who had seemingly dropped off the face of the planted birthed a baby boy nobody but the two of them knew she was pregnant with. Peter's birth was not on any record. Dr. Klein had delivered the child on his own.
All this meant that Peter and his adoptive father were safe from the eyes of the public, which would be necessary for Dr. Klein's plans. Dr. Klein is known for his research in human health, specifically the metabolism and how the body stores fat. Many of his theories involved experimenting with the concept of hyperobesity, the idea of a human freakishly obese beyond the point of immobility, a concept that seemed impossible. Dr. Klein speculated it could be, and he felt it was his duty to prove it. He knew there were those out in the world who, if they were able, would trade their lives away to experience immobility, and many who would desire to be obese were it not for adverse health consequences. He himself once had a lover who was enamored with gaining weight, but when his lover was diagnosed with diabetes, they stopped gaining, lost much of their weight, cut off ties with Dr. Klein and apparently fell into depression years later.
Peter represented Henry Klein's hope for the world. He had the potential to be fattened from birth onward, and with Dr. Klein's resources the two of them could bring Peter a level of obesity nobody had ever experienced, and hopefully they would do so with no adverse health consequences.
Dr. Klein cradled Peter in his arms as the baby wailed. He brought to the baby's lips a bottle of baby formula. Special formula that would slow the metabolism and provide plenty of calories, all while strengthening hearth health, bone health and blood flow. Peter was an average baby, but that wouldn't be for long...
