8 people within the Wilko store and 2 people from Beautylicious had to turn up for an emergency meeting that Elizabeth was holding. It was still several hours before the store was set to open and everyone was certainly not fully awake. "Does anyone know what this meeting is about anyway?" Charlotte asked as she was still wiping the sleep from her eye. She was one of the ones that certainly didn't want to get up this morning, with her hair done up in a bun with her pink and purple pyjama pants and a purple tank top. She looked around to see who else had shown up for this 'emergency meeting' that they had to show up for. There was Kiran, Liam, Josh, Darrell, Phoebe, and Naomi that were from Wilko. She also noticed that Carly and Kay were there from Beautylicious. "When are we going to start this meeting?"
"Don't get your knickers in a bunch." Elizabeth replied to her. "I am going to start it in a moment." She gathered up some of her paperwork for the meeting when she heard a knock on the door. "That's what I was waiting for." She smiled as she made her way over to the door and let in a strange man in a lab coat. Seeing this, everyone seemed to freak out slightly and started to chatter. She brought up her hand to try and quiet the chattering storm. "Okay everyone calm down so we can get this meeting started." She motioned for the guy in the lab coat to sit down next to her. "Okay are you guys ready?" She asked the group who all seemed to nod sleepily. "Well, I called you guys here to let you know that co-operation between everyone seems to have fallen apart and I made a quick list of some of the new people and old people to help with the co-operation."
"What are they doing here?" Phoebe asked as she pointed gestured over to Kay and Carly.
"I will take care of this, luv." Carly replied over to Elizabeth. "Well, I heard about this little project from Elizabeth and I decided that Kay and I could use some time walking in another's shoes."
"What is she talking about, walking in another's shoes?" Kiran wondered.
Elizabeth sighed and was about to speak when the guy in the lab coat spoke up. "I vill take care ov zis." He spoke with a heavy German accent. "I vas called here by the company to help with zee teamvork. But I decided to allow zeze two ladies to join too." He motioned over to Kay and Carly. "Vat vee will be doing in in short is swapping lives around." The group seemed shocked at what they just heard.
"Okay, okay." Elizabeth tried to calm down the group. "Everything is safe and has been used at 4 other branches. Dr. Brandt will swap the lives of the two individuals. From what I have been told, you will get the hair that belongs to the body and any necessary skills. So if I swap with Darrell, he would get my life, hair, and my knowledge of job and family. I would in turn get his life, hair, and his knowledge of job and family."
"That seems kind of controversial." Josh replied. "Wait... Dr. Brandt wasn't he the personal physician to Hitler in WWII?" Everyone turned to the doctor who seemed to smile.
"You know vour history." Dr. Brandt answered. "He vaz my Grandfazer."
"Well, like I was saying." Elizabeth said with a disapproving look on her face. "I already drew the names at random and who they will be swapping with." She started to hand out files to each of the participants. "Try not to interrupt me as I hand these out." Everyone nodded as they awaited their files. "Charlotte, you will get Carly. Phoebe will be with Liam. Kay, luv, you will be with Darrell. Josh will be with Naomi. Kiran will be with me." Everyone looked in their files to see the contents. Inside was a quick rundown on who they would be swapping with: Name, age, address, etc.
Josh looked over to Naomi, who so happened to be sitting next to him. "What do you think about this whole thing?" He whispered over to her. She blushed slightly.
"I think it would be interesting." She quietly said to him, still blushing.
"Alright everyone knows of their assignment. We will stay this way for 1 week and if you want to stay this way, I think we can make it possible." Elizabeth said with a slight grin to the group who all seemed to shudder slightly at the thought of staying in the life of another. "So who will be first?" She asked the group and everyone seemed to freeze up. "Kiran?" Looking over to the 17 year old girl who seemed to be shaking her head furiously. "Well we don't have all day, so I think we will go front to back. Josh and Naomi will be first, if you will follow Dr. Brandt." Josh and Naomi looked at each other with horror in their eyes.
"Well let's go get this done." Josh said to Naomi who in turn nodded in agreement and followed Josh to the back where Dr. Brandt had the machines hooked up. It appeared to be 2 glass tubes with a group of wires connecting them at the top and meeting in the middle where a small desktop computer was serving it's purpose as the brain of the machine.
"Right then." He spoke to them losing his German accent. "I have a proposition for the two of you." Josh and Naomi looked at each other in awe at the sudden transformation in his language skills. "I am willing to pay the two of you a 1,000 pounds each if you let me try a new function on you. I assure you it is completely safe and I will be able to fix it. But the only thing is, I can do it in a month instead of a week, hence why I will be paying the two of you."
"What happened to your accent?" Naomi wondered as she looked at the doctor with an inquisitive look.
"Oh, I only do it because I don't like to explain the process." He chuckled as he looked at the computer. "Now will you guys let me try something? If not I will ask the other groups to see, but I only need one group. Go ahead and talk it over for a minute and let me know."
Josh and Naomi took a couple minutes to talk it over and they came to a decision. Naomi walked over to the doctor. "What sort of function?" She wondered.
"Well it will be random. It could be a sexual attribute swap, height, ethnicity, or personality, but it will be a combination of two of them. I don't know until it is done." He answered with a cocked eyebrow, wondering if they would be the ones to try out the function. It turned out that with the last 4 branches, nobody wanted to try it out and he had to sit idly by until somebody would let him.
"I think you have a deal." Naomi said with a nod. "What do we have to do?"
A smile crept across his face. "Great, I am glad to hear that." He got some forms for them to sign saying in legal terms that he could do the swap. "Now that's done, I need each of you to step in a tube." He motioned to the tubes to the left and right. "Now the first swap will be the life swap and you will gain eachother's hair styles and life information. Then after a few seconds, I will initiate another one and you will each gain 2 characteristics from the other person. Since the both of you opted for the second phase, nobody will notice anything different and it will be as if you were always like that."
Josh and Naomi made their way over to the tubes and when they got in, the tubes sealed themselves. Through one of the speakers inside the tube Josh heard a voice. "Right, are you both ready for the first swap." Josh looked over to Naomi and they both nodded. "Here we go." The voice announced as they heard a hum emanating from the top of the tube. Josh felt hair growing out of his head at an accelerated rate until it reached down past his shoulders. He glanced over to see that it matched her dark coloring. Next was the clothing, he felt it shift until he could feel the knee length dress that she wore gracing his body. How it fit his taller body, he would never know. Lastly, the flow of information came and it seemed too overwhelming. The names, faces, job information, and some memories too, which seemed odd. "That was the first phase." The voice said through the speaker. "Now, I will start the second phase." A new pulsating hum now started to come out of the top and it seemed to increase in frequency. Josh felt himself shrinking down 9 inches until he was Naomi's old height.
"I wonder what else I got?" The said to himself as the it started to wind down to nothing. The doors opened with a sudden hiss as the air rushed in. Josh made his way out of the tube and looked at Naomi who had his clothes, hair, height and_______. "This is going to be weird." He said as he walked over to the doctor to see what was to happen next.
