Roy hurriedly fumbled with the role swapping device, hoping to reverse the effects of his recent experiment.
Unfortunately, the new “Roy” proved too fast and disappeared out the door of the apartment, presumably heading off to work at the fast food restaurant now.
“Shit,” cursed Roy under his breath, looking down at himself dressed head to toe in the clothes of his roommate's girlfriend. Thanks to his slow reflexes, Roy was now stuck with the life role of Sarah Howard for now.
“Morning, babe,” said Jack, emerging from the bathroom wearing nothing but a towel around his waist and a hungry look on his face.
“Uh … good morning, Jack,” Roy said, feeling intensely uncomfortable at the way his roommate was now looking at him.
“Those eggs smell awesome,” said Jack, inhaling the aroma of the breakfast Roy was currently cooking. “Is it ready yet?”
Whew, thought Roy. He's just hungry for food!
“Uh … yeah, actually I think they're done,” said Roy, forcing a smile onto his face.
“Swell,” replied Jack. “Let me just throw something on, and I'll be right there.”
As Jack trudged off to his bedroom, Roy slipped the role swapping device back out from the pocket in his silky, womens slacks.
Roy's original life role had just walked out the door, so he couldn't get it back … at least not right now. But as long as he maintained possession of the unique gizmo, he didn't have to remain trapped living Sarah's life. Tiptoeing over to the apartment door, Roy peeked out into the hallway and began searching for a target to swap with.
