You sleep snug in your bed, resting up from the long school day you went through. The dream you have feels real, you are at the park with your family. Nothing out of the ordinary until you see that Old Witch you ran into. She just stares at you with those sunken in eyes. Dark clouds start forming and you hear thunder and see lightening. Her lips curl up into a sinister grin before the skin on her face starts melting off of her bones until she looks like a skeleton wearing a black dress. The skeleton Witch then laughs as you turn around and see that your family have also been turned into skeletons that are still wearing their clothes. "Are you alright Champ?" Your Dad says before you wake up with a loud gasp.
"It was only a dream." You reassure yourself. You look around and see that nothing's changed in your room. It's still that organized chaos your Mother keeps calling a mess. You get up and go brush your teeth. Looking down the hallway you see that the family photos along the wall are the same as ever. You almost feel foolish for believing that that Old Lady had actually cursed you and your family. Ridiculous. You go into the bathroom and brush your teeth. Looking around you notice that there was a bed pan next to the toilet. It looked like an old antique from WWII. Your Dad probably got it from a yard sale, he likes collecting old junk. You spit out the toothpaste and go down to the kitchen.
As you walk about the house you smell an eggy smell coming from the kitchen. You pass by Jake and June's room. The little ginger twins are sleeping in their beds. You enter the kitchen and don't see any eggs being cooked. Instead you see your dad, Peter, finishing his tie while drinking his coffee. "Oh, hey Champ. Slept well?"
"Yeah. I had this really weird dream."
"You know your Grandma believed that dreams told us things about the future." Peter takes a big sip from his mug.
"Really, like what?" You ask him curiously. Peter brings the mug down and he had a big brown coffee mustache on his clean shaven lips.
"Well, if you dream about your teeth falling out, she said it means that someone is going to have good fortune." He says this before licking up the stain on his lips. "Or that someone was going to die. I can never remember."
Uh huh. What about a dream where everyone lost their skin?"
"I don't know, I never really believed all that. It's just silly superstition, your Grandma was a very superstitious person." Peter looked at the time on his watch. "I gotta get going Champ. See you after work."
"Okay. Take care Dad." You wave to your Father as he walks out of the side door to get to his car.
You walk into the living room and see your sister Liz sitting on the couch watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix. You and Liz always got along since you two were so close in age. You only being older by thirteen months. When you two were little everyone thought you guys were twins, now your family actually have twins with Jake and June. "What ya watching?" You ask her as she sips on her glass of apple-juice.
"Stuff." She replies. You sit down next to her. Liz is a bit bookish but you wouldn't call her a nerd. She participates in school activities like home coming, gets good grades, and is a teacher's pet, but she has friends and isn't picked on or anything. "So, what are you doing today?"
"I'm not sure. Maybe hang out with Sally or something."
"That sounds like fun." Liz says trying to not sound excited at the fact that Sally could come over. You girlfriend really hit it off well with her and the two have fun together even on the rare occasions when you aren't with them. Sally is like the big sister that Liz never had. Your attention turns back onto the TV.
"How can you watch this crap?" You say.
"What's wrong with it. I like crap." Your sister isn't doing a good job defending her taste in shows. She then leans away from you and let's off a little toot in your direction.
"Ew. You're gross." Liz laughs a little at your reaction.
"I have no idea what you mean. I forgot my phone." Liz then gets up and goes to her room. When she leaves you grab her glass to take a sip but before you do, you notice that it's warm. Who drinks warm apple-juice. And it smells really salty. Did it go bad? You didn't even know apple-juice could go bad but it's obviously rotten. You put it down and start texting with your girlfriend Sally.
"Hi :) Want to hangout today." You text her. After a while she texts back.
"Sure. I have to finish up some chores first but I'll come over when I'm done." She replies.
"Cool. See you soon cutey. ;)"
"See you soon stinky butt. ;)" Stinky butt? Is that a new nickname she's trying to give you? You put the phone down and think of what to do for now.
