Chapter #5

Vera Misham

    by: Reset Author IconMail Icon
It had been a few weeks since the death of Drew Misham and the ensuing trial, and thankfully the jury had acquitted his daughter, Vera, who had since made a full recovery. Less thankfully, Vera was still hesitant to leave her home. Apollo and Trucy had gone to visit her several times, and she would go on brief outings with them, but she still seemed afraid to travel for long periods, and she was even more afraid to leave her home alone. Apollo knew it wouldn't do any good for her to be cooped up in that house after all that had happened though, especially since she no longer had her father with her.

It was the afternoon and things were going slow at the office. Trucy and Mr. Wright were out, and it seemed Apollo had no cases to work on, as he lounged about at the work desk Mr. Wright had finally allotted him. "Guess since nothing's going on, I'll check on Vera," he decided as he got up from his chair and exited into the lobby. Once there, he came across a strange package on the table. "Hmm? Who ordered this?" Figuring he only stood to anger Mr. Wright or Trucy, Apollo took the liberty of opening the box on his own.

In it, he found the remote and its instructions. It all sounded like something out of a science fiction movie to him, and not a particularly good one. "Maybe Trucy just bought it as a prop," he mused. As he thought more about it though, he realized it would be very convenient if the device did what it said. 'If Vera could just, like, spend a day as someone else, maybe it'd give her a chance to broaden her perspective.' There wasn't much harm in trying, its not as though Vera would judge him when it failed. The device SOUNDED crazy, but then, Mr. Wright once got a testimony from a ghost! Weirder things had happened.

---

A half hour later, Apollo reached the Misham house, which he had visited several times before during his investigation of Drew's murder. "It can't be good for her to still be here..." he muttered as he parked his bike.

Walking up to the door, it occurred to him that he never put much thought into who he would try to switch her with. All things considered, he was the only candidate right now. However, the instructions didn't say the remote had a timer at all; he could use it on her here and then find someone like Trucy to switch her with later.

Did Apollo just switch her with himself, or does he try to switch Vera with another person?

You have the following choices:

1. He switches with Vera

*Noteb*
2. He switches someone else with Vera

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
