If Smith was to possess his little brother, he decided to do it at night when Brandon is sleeping. While the knowledge of how to use this new power was relayed to him, the scope and limitations of his power are still a mystery. Brandon could fight back. His headstrong attitude, something they both inherited from their father, could bite him in the ass. He doesn't want his little brother to fight back, lest he becomes aware of the invasion of his older brother. It took him weeks before he got to talking terms with his little brother ever since his deployment abroad. It would be a waste to ruin all of that.
When the night stood still, Smith made his move. He transformed into his astral form and floated toward's Brandon's room. The little guy may be in the middle of his massive growth spurt, but he'll always be the little runt Smith has come to tease since he was a kid. No offense to Jake, but if there's anyone next to become a jock in this family, it would be him.
Smith slithered on top of his brother, his spectral appendages wrapped over his body, and crawled into various gaping orifices. He went slow and made sure to never wake him up. It took a lot longer than expected but when the clock stroke twelve, all whiff of ectoplasm is now tucked inside Brandon's body.
It's strange... It pains Smith to say that this is the most comfortable he's gotten since he came back home. He was too stupid to think that he'd be bringing guns and glory with his friends when they collectively decided to be soldiers in this country. It only brought him nightmares. One of his friends lost his leg and the other lost his life entirely. But hey! You get a veteran's discount at your nearest fast-food chain. So, there's that.
When Smith opened his eyes, all the nightmares, all the pain, most of them seemed to bubble away. He doesn't have Brandon's memories. But in his body? The trauma of war seemed to be on opposite shores. If he was to be Brandon, his concerns would only be his football practice or his social stature among his peers.
Smith could not sleep. He's in a different body, and it's taking some time to get used to the size. Brandon is strong, but it paled in comparison to the strength Smith accrued in his strict military regimen. He stripped himself of his clothes and lay down on the bed with both arms behind his back. His eyes are staring emptily into the ceiling, but there's a smile on his face. There is a thought crossing his mind. From the power of possession, he has a choice. Make this change permanent by merging himself with his brother's soul, or remain a separate entity privy to his brother's life. What did Smith do next?
