Mom and your remaining sisters were waiting for you at the base of the stairs. As soon as Mel saw you, her eyes boggled slightly before she whined to mom.
"Mom, like why is she looking like that?" Mel complained as she took a firm look at you. Hayley was right; Mel was, for some reason. extremely jealous of you, which was annoying. Shuddering, you imagined her reaction if you had worn the pink, more revealing clothes Hayley had tried to get you to wear.
Mom intervened. "Melanie. We talked about this. Your sister hasn't magically enhanced herself or anything like that. That is what Lucy looks like" mom snapped.
"But.... Look at her..." Mel complained, but you was beyond listening to her pathetic, jealous rants. Instead, you focused on mom and said coldly, "You've been talking about me behind my back? For how long?"
"I had to, Lucy" mom said.
"Please don't...."
"I won't Lucy. Sorry to be harsh, but you're now Lucy, and you're now as much as a girl as any of us" mom said to your horrified figure as the full implications started to set in. "I kept magic from you for several reasons. Firstly, Hannah" mom said, turning to your youngest, pouting sister. You wondered what she was angry about. It wasn't like she had her whole life tipped upside down, and told you're still you, except with different clothes.
"I'm not too young, mommy" Hannah protested.
"Yes, you are. Even if you can use magic, you cannot use it safely, or understand it. Plus, the strain it puts on you is more than you imagine. You'd be asleep most of the day. Don't pout sweetie; If Lucy had turned into a little girl, I would forbid her for the same reasons."
"But its not fair!" Hannah whined.
Mom ignored her. Turning to Mel, she said, "You are not ready either."
"What? I totally am" Mel complained.
"You're reckless. Plus, your first reaction to your sister is jealousy, as if you thought magic gave her a more feminine body than you. It didn't. If you had changed Lucy instead of her naturally changing on her own, she would look exactly the same. The only reason either of you know is that it isn't easy to hide Lucy...."
"Mom!" you snapped, hating how they're talking about this change right in front of you, like if it wasn't a big deal.
