While you fell into a peaceful slumber, mom walked to Hayley's room where she found her unpacking from her trip away. "Congratulations on graduating with school, honey." Smiling, mom said. "Welcome home."
"Thanks, mom." Smiling back, she said. She then sighed. "I saw John holding one of the magic books. Who was careless enough to leave it out?"
"I fear John summoned it without thinking." To Hayley's surprise, mom said. "The barrier that is keeping him male is falling apart. Magic is starting to leak through."
Hayley turned slightly pale before asking, "Is there any way to repair it, strengthen it?"
Mom sadly shook her head. "I wish there were but, no." Softly, she said. "John has about a month before he starts changing and I am not sure if it will be quick, slow, painless, or torturous."
"The best option we have is to change him now." Serious, Hayley said. "It's better than waiting for the inevitable or worse, watching John trying to fight it to the end."
"I agree." With a nod, mom said. "However, we need to find a way to make John understand we did not want this, that things like this just happen in a witch family."
Hayley sighed. "He is a stubborn one."
"We will all talk to him tonight." Gently, mom said. "I'm certain he will try to fight the changes so we will allow him to do so. Just so he will understand that we did not want this."
