Hermione had been dating Harry since their fourth year. When Ron had been avoiding Harry thinking he had put his name in the for the tournament Harry and Hermione had spent a lot of time together and ended up dating. During the Summer before Harry's Fifth year the Order would sometime send Hermione to visit Harry as the niece of Mrs. Figg as she would be able to blend in with Muggle community.
