The farm, large as it was, was a bit secluded. you would have driven right past it if not for the sign out by the mail box. "Zimmerman farm." a phone number was given below the sign, and you had been told why when you spoke to the man himself on the phone a few days ago. Zimmerman bred horses, or so he claimed. he specializes in the larger breeds, focusing further on Clydesdales and shires. the cows, on the other hand, really didn't do much but provide further tax exemption, as did all of his other animals. He did not mention what other things he did to make money, but it was irrelevant.
he had contacted you because he had noticed strange lights flashing in his stable about three days ago. when he approached and made his presence known, the lights stopped. none of his prized horses seemed harmed in any way, but you were contacted to prevent them from becoming so.
His driveway was a half mile set of tire ruts with tall grass lining the middle. his house looked humble enough, but the stable seemed only a fraction smaller. you could make out five windows of stalls, two of which were occupied. a yellow horse and an even larger black one poked their heads out as you came closer. you had always been slightly wary of horses. they were too big for you to be comfortable around them. these would be downright unsettling to stand beside.
Zimmerman came out of the house as you parked and greeted you warmly, shaking your hand with a firm grip and asking if the place was hard to find. together you walked to the stable so you could look around.
You were right: these two horses, the yellow actually a light brown Clydesdale, and the other a huge shire horse, turned around in their stalls and stared at you as the two of you entered the stable. at the shoulders, they were each at least five and a half, maybe even six feet tall, intimidating your just below six foot self. Zimmerman assures you that they are gentle giants, and goes on to explain that nothing is stolen or damaged, but the lights are definitely concerning. after looking around you tell him that you will stay the night to see if these lights will come back, and find out what they are.
---------------
You awaken from a light sleep with the taste of a Big Mac still clinging to your breath. you look sleepily toward the stable and see a bright flash of light. It's time to do your job.
