This choice: Lorana decides to follow the dragon in secret, and devise a plan... • Go Back...Chapter #4Pursuing the Predator by: Halcyon Diving behind a tree, Lorana quickly hides from the voracious dragon's line of sight. With her chest heaving, the terrified Nord - the lone remainder of her group, she presumed the only one not either dead or churning inside of the dragon's belly - kept an eye on the dragon as she hid, knowing that she stood no chance fighting the dragon at this point, and that the only way to save her friends would be through guile. Taking absolute care not to alert the dragon to her presence, Lorana watched as the tremendous, red-scaled beast slowly circled, looking for survivors. Down below, its somewhat bloated tan underbelly seemed to emanate a low rumbling, as if to tease Lorana with her friends' fates.
Satisfied with seeing no survivors, the dragon took to flight, flapping its massive wings as it lifted into the air, its belly swaying beneath. Watching the dragon ascend, Lorana quickly jumped out of her hiding space and began to run after it, following it with her eyes as the beast flew away. Almost instantly, Lorana realized the futility of her attempt - the dragon could fly much faster than she could run, and it was already flying out of her sight.
No... Lorana thought to herself, chest heaving as she stormed up the mountainside, trying desperately not to lose sight of the dragon above the treetops. I can't let it get away. I have to save Aeta, and the others. I have to...
Suddenly, Lorana felt a faint glimmer of hope as the dragon - now at the very edge of her sight, only the smallest glimpse of it visible through the mountain treetops - slowly descend, and land in a clearing farther up the mountain. Determined to save her friends, Lorana marched onward, fueled by adrenaline, her legs burning as she ran.
What seemed to Lorana like an eternity later, the exhausted Nord girl finally came upon the dragon's clearing. Gasping for breath, Lorana snuck into the clearing, to see... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
